/ brief=And Then We Danced is a movie starring Levan Gelbakhiani, Bachi Valishvili, and Ana Javakishvili. A passionate coming-of-age tale set amidst the conservative confines of modern Tbilisi, the film follows Merab, a competitive dancer / country=Georgia / Levan Akin / stars=Levan Gelbakhiani / release date=2019.

During the movie, it has three different stories, but it does not focus on any one of them, instead it just tell a little of each, and then drops ending with no conclusion.
Afterwards it felt like you had seen a weaker version of. Call me by your name. br> This film is doubtful to win best foreign movie, if even getting nominated. Amazing movie, exactly says everything about Georgia and how georgians react to LGBT people. I loved it and this movie definitely shows that love doesn't have sex, religion, color...

The actual movie. it's sad sad at the end something happens and it made me sad for a good 45+ minutes. You really need good headphones/earphones to listen to Robyns music. Playing it from speakers doesnt seem to do it justice usual Im in love 💕 so much passion and emotion. I have just entered into the vicious-delicious cycle of dying of happiness only to be brought back to life by Robyns sick style. This is how it is now. Ohh por dios. Me fascinó, sonido tan sensual vídeo tan erótico. Perfecto. 👌 💘💘💘.

Finally some South African gay romance

Als wir tanzten münchen. Als wir tanzen online. Love his voice x. Never before in cinema have I seen a relationship in which I would so genuinely believe. In every word, move, look, gesture of Merab (Levan Gelbakhiani) I can see and feel an ordinary young artist struggling with self-identification and experiencing first love.
The idea of portraying gay romance in such a conservative country as Georgia could give the director Levan Akin many reasons to be moralistic and pretentious. Yet the end result is by no means like this. In every scene, every word, it is subtle, naturalistic, thought-provoking without any unnecessary preachiness. Opinions and feelings are conveyed through music and dance, which enables the film to achieve all its purposes in a delicate yet decisive way.
Akin does not portray Georgian society as something evil. As everywhere, there are people who hate, people who do not understand and people who support. 'And Then We Danced' is a meaningful masterpiece made by those who support not only for those who need the support, but also for those who do not understand yet.

The times of bill cunningham watch online. The times of bill cunningham netflix. So I know I have been MIA for like 4 months and I'm sorry about that. I really don't think I can possibly explain how insane my life has been. A bit of what started all of this is in my post history, so I wont go into too many details about that, but the short version is my STBXH is the one who was having an online affair with a 24 yr old girl from Canada (he is 46) who he met playing an online computer game. He is a retired cop and Marine who has (untreated) PTSD and BPD. He lost his mind when I found out, became paranoid and our kids and I had to hide in a hotel for 3 days. I got a PFA and emergency full custody and he went to rehab to "save our marriage". He stayed for a month, then flew to Canada to meet this girl. After he left, I found out he had a secret checking account, he'd taken out tens of thousands of dollars in credit cards (we found over 20, with some in my name), personal loans, etc and he even took out loans against one of our paid off vehicles. I have no idea even to this day where all the money went (including tens of thousands from the 2 mortgages he took on our house we paid cash for), but I suspect it was going to women online/his porn addiction, video games, tools and online shopping. I still dont have passwords to any of our bills. I believe that is about where I left off. So I also found out from my MIL after he was in Canada for maybe 6 weeks tops that he had gotten this girl pregnant. This was prior to either of us even filing for divorce yet. I wasnt going to tell our children, but my oldest daughter (10), was playing a video game with him, when he added his GF to the game. She told him she didnt want to play with her and he tried to tell her that she isnt the reason that he and I are getting a divorce, but that it is because I was going to leave him anyway. My daughter looked at the girl's gaming profile and saw that she was pregnant! She came to talk to me and was shaking so bad all over that her teeth were chattering. She was scared to tell me because she didnt know that I knew. I have never been so angry in my life. We both blocked him then. A lot more stuff happened during this period. He had agreed to pay our utilities (instead of child support) until I found a job so we could move to be closer to family, but they kept getting randomly shut off due to non-payment. We went three days right before Christmas with no heat because our heater was out of oil (kerosene). I'd told him a month prior it was getting low and a week prior that it was on empty. My church gave me electric heaters to use, which blew a fuse and we didnt have power for a day. Thankfully, a guy from my church came over and fixed that and brought us 20 gallons of oil. My lovely ex decided to apply for help with the heat instead of just paying for it, which normally would be fine except that he waited until we had ran out to do it. Well, when he applied for the heat program, he was turned down because he doesnt live here. So what does he do? He has the lady add him to our case. He was still turned down because he had already set up a payment or something. Well, I had to have my hip replaced on December 19th. I went for my after surgery appt with my surgeon and found out I couldnt get my X-Ray because our insurance had been cancelled. When he had them add him to our case, his unemployment put me over the income level and made me lose my insurance, my kids' insurance and our food stamps. Worst part was, they had my case set as a domestic Violence case and had a huge warning on it that nobody was to speak to him about our case. Nobody could tell me how that happened:( Oh yeah, he also lost his unemployment because he couldnt be bothered to do the minimum work required to keep even that... yeah. He still isnt working and that was months ago. To go back to my surgery. I had my freakin hip replaced at 36 and just 6 days before Christmas. My ex had already missed 2 of our kids' birthdays by extending his Canada trip purposely to miss their birthdays. He again promised them he would see them at Christmas. I asked if he was coming to our house and he said he wasnt ready to face my parents after what he had done. My parents were coming to help with kids for my surgery. I told him I would ask the surgeon if we could go to his mom's in NC instead. I really didnt want the kids being home for Christmas anyway as I thought it would be hard for them without their dad being here. My surgeon (well the PA okayed it, surgeon was pissed lol) okayed the trip and I texted ex to let him know that we would be driving down to his state on the 23rd so he could see the kids, just 4 days after having my freaking hip replaced. The day before we get there, I find out that he had left to drive over 36 hours to Canada. He seriously left the day before we got there just so he wouldnt have to face the kids. That coward. I drove 8 hours in horrific pain so they could see their dad at Christmas and he had the audacity to leave. Ugh, it still gets me heated just thinking about it. Granted, with how messed up he is, we all agree it is better he stays away from all of us, and especially the kids, but still. A few weeks ago, I got a call from him in the middle of the night. I knew he was back in Canada, so I thought it was super weird he was calling me. He hardly calls or texts at all when he is there, but calls me constantly when he was at his mom's like we are BFFs. I answered and he told me he had just been arrested in Canada for beating up the GF's dad (who they live with). He also said he used to be the biggest drug dealer in that area for the past 20 years, but who knows what is true when he tells me something. He said he was at a hotel and the dad had dropped the charges. He was living back with them the next day, so none of those people have much sense if you ask me. (That poor baby! ) He was drunk at the time, of course and started crying about how he loves me so much and is just so sorry. Starts telling me how he has nightmares where he cant find me and then he wakes up and I'm not there, just the other girl. I'm like, gee, I wonder how that started to blame God and saying he didnt understand why God did this to him or why God would take his family away. I got really angry at that and told him that God didnt "do" anything to him, but if anything, God was saving the kids and me "from" him. It's hard for me because I still really want him to get the help he needs, but I am completely done with having any part of helping him anymore and I just cant be his emotional support animal anymore. He made his choices months ago and the kids and I have had to live with the consequences of them. We are finally starting to maybe see light at the end of this horrible tunnel (well, maybe not quite yet, but I know it's there:)) A lot of other things have happened, but the hardest thing by far for me has been seeing how tough this has been on my kids. My younger 2 dont know about the affair or baby yet. I'm going to tell them after the divorce is final. My oldest is having severe depression and thoughts of hurting herself and suicide. I have been trying my hardest to get us out of this horrible house so we can be closer to family. Our divorce should be over early next week (if he signs it) and as soon as I get my taxes back, we are moving. I've been trying to find a job in both states where I have family, but my parents offered to sell their house and move away from where my MIL is to the other state where most of our family is, which is a huge relief. I was talking to MIL the other day and she was telling me how much he loves me and asked if there was any chance, if he promised to stop drinking (like that is the only issue now), if I would ever be able to accept his baby!! Like, what!? That completely caught me off guard. I thought she was gonna ask if I'd take him back, but nope, she jumps right to will I raise another of his kids I told her there is a higher chance of me taking cheater baby than there is me taking him back. At least the baby is innocent in all this. My ex just drove back from Canada a few days ago and is staying with his mom again and I have a very strong suspicion that he brought the girl with him to move into our home when we move out. I gave him the house in exchange for him taking all the debts he took out in my name. TBH, I just hate this house and just want to be free of all of it. It is also not worth much with the loans he took out against it, so good riddance. It will be worth the peace of mind for me to just be able to up and move when we find a house to rent or I find a job. If I had to deal with selling it and cleaning everything out on top of everything else, it would just be too much for me. On Valentine's Day, I got the draft of our divorce settlement agreement from my lawyer in the morning and an email from my doctor in the afternoon letting me know my lab work came back clean (I had asked him to check me for STDs, given I had no idea how long he had been cheating). I joked with my mom and aunt that this was the best Valentine's day I'd had in over 12 years lol. I still have full physical custody of kiddos and am asking for full legal custody as well in the divorce. My ex will do anything to avoid going to court. He has a lot of secrets and he does not want them to come out. I had been praying that he and the GF could hold the crazy in long enough for him to sign the papers because I knew he would get focused back on me the minute they broke up. I just need to get through this week! I've been waiting until our divorce is final to date at all myself, so it would be nice to be able to move on at some point. Sorry, I know this is crazy long (and just plain crazy). I actually left out a lot of the craziness. It has seriously been something new every week. I joked with a lady at church this morning that my ceiling could probably cave in and I'd just laugh because that is just how life has been lately and I wouldnt be surprised. Through all of it, my kids and I have been incredibly blessed to be surrounded by some incredible family and friends who have blessed us and helped us, even when things felt impossible. You really do appreciate what you have when things are tough and you don't have much, but it really does strengthen your faith, in God and in your fellow man. If you've read all this, Thank you and I apologize for waiting so long that I had to write a book to catch everyone up! TLDR: My JNSO is still crazy and I write a lot:).

The Times of Bill cunningham new york. The Times of Bill cunningham energy. The times of bill cunningham documentary netflix. Preface: For a while now, people on this sub have been asking me to make a dedicated post about my issues with Senator Sanders. At first, I didn't want to due to a lot of recent negative posts on Bernie here. At the same time, I think my views are important to consider as they come from a place of deep concern, for my future and my family's future. Ultimately, I think the biggest push was someone who told me they were able to Yang several people with my posts, which is really touching to hear, and why I finally decided to do this. A bit about me: I voted for Bernie in the primaries in 2016, Jill Stein in the general, and Zephyr Teachout as a downticket candidate in 2018. Now three years later since Bernie's last run, as a minority on welfare, now with personal experience with several of Bernie's flagship proposals, I cannot in good conscience vote for him this time around. Starting off, Bernie’s proposals are not dealing with the biggest elephant in the room: local and state governments. It’s the state governments responsible for: Jim Crow laws, corrupt law enforcement, anti-lgbt laws, abortion laws, etc. It doesn’t help that he continuously praises FDR, a man who knowingly allowed the passing of Jim Crow laws that barred minorities from the benefits of the New Deal, in order to gain the southern vote and never saw a need to help minorities with anything, leading to an age of prosperity for the majority of Americans, as long as you were white. It was needed at the time to get America out of the Great Depression, sure, but we really shouldn't be praising it and trying to bring it back. While Bernie is not racist, he is committing the same flaws that led to the ease of excluding minorities in the first place even now with The Green New Deal. " While the New Deal was formally designed to benefit African Americans, some of its flagship programs, particularly those proposed during the First New Deal, either excluded African Americans or even hurt them. " Problem with Bernie is that all of his plans work as trickle down for the public sector. Yes, trickle down. Bill Clinton further reinforced this with the 1994 Crime Bill, the same bill Bernie signed (yes, I know why he signed it - the Violence Against Women Act, but it overall led to disastrous consequences for those he wanted to help). Thanks to the 1994 Welfare Reform Act which was included with the bill, the federal gov can only provide the funding for social programs, while it’s the states that actually administer and execute the programs at the ground level. This has led to millions being missed or being denied over ridiculous reasons, cutting of funds, and mismanagement of funds (red states using tanf funds to fund abstinence programs in minority schools). As it is, Bernie is not addressing any of this. I voted for him previously, but had a problem with him in regards to this back then too. I was hoping he would’ve improved his policies or thought them over since 2016, but he has not. If trickle down is a disaster in the private sector, why are we still giving it a pass in the public sector? We’re supposed to be fighting systems of oppression as progressives, but this one isn’t given nearly amount of attention it should. Even worse, no one in Bernie's camp is even grilling him on this stuff to begin with. As a minority on public assistance, it’s really upsetting to see. He’s talking about M4A and FJG, when the poor can’t even afford public trans (more on this later), and the homeless can’t even afford to gather the necessary documents needed to apply to jobs in the first place. UBI is incredible in that it immediately deals with all of these issues, without placing the onus on state governments to actually carry it out - lest they make excuses and cut funding or prioritize certain neighborhoods like they do with everything else. Rather, the money is going directly to the people, especially those who’ve been ignored or treated as burdens up till now. FJG is hands down one of the most anti-disability friendly policies I’ve heard being proposed in a while. Nevermind, the fact that most disabled can’t even commute or work a job to begin with, but for those who can, it diminishes their unique strengths and forces them into an environment they most likely won’t be suited for. I’m also autistic and I’ve been teased and harassed over misunderstandings at every min wage job I’ve worked. I’m also fairly easy to dupe into doing work for someone else or be taken advantage of. I can’t imagine being stuck 30+ years in a job with unemployable, bitter people who are itching for a vulnerable punching bag to take out their anger on, and a boss who would rather turn a blind eye or be elsewhere, just because the government doesn’t see me as a valuable person unless I’m doing something to benefit it. This has already happened in France; we don't need tragedies of this form in America. Low-level gov work is rife with workplace abuse issues. A little bit more about me. My father was a state government worker. He worked as a janitor for a public school from the 80s up until his retirement in the mid-2010s. He wasn’t disabled, but he was the only minority janitor there. They had him doing all the dirty work and overtime hours, and he rarely ever had enough time to just spend with me and my mother because of it. Another reason why the FJG scares me. As someone who helps out my parents with daily activities now, it wouldn't benefit myself, nor other caretakers either. For those with disabilities, Bernie's policies are beyond lacking: I support ending the sub-minimum wage. However, everything else is simply a pivot back to the FJG or welfare. SSDI and SSI is broken in this country and come with strict work limits and requirements. Thousands die every year from states cutting funds for administrative offices and people falling through the cracks. Yet, all Bernie plans on doing is increasing funding and expansion, which sounds good until you realize he's essentially just passing on more money to the states. The same states cutting the funding in the first place. While the actual checks can't be limited by the states, they can and do limit the amount of people who qualify. In comparison, Yang's FD is an unconditional $1000/m. SSI max is only $783 and most people only get around $600. SSDI is around $1. 1-1. 2k on average, and stacks with Yang's FD, which would be more than you would get with SSDI+SSI (1. 7-1. 8k+ vs. 2. 1-2. 2k+). You are only eligible for SSDI if you have a proven work history and became disabled later on. If you were always disabled and have no work history, you are stuck with SSI. So why can't the FD stack with SSI? If people proposing this were actually on welfare, they'd understand why this is a bad idea. First off, it is not that FD doesn't stack, it's that SSI itself has an income ceiling of 1. 7k/m. If you make any more than that, you can no longer receive it. If the FD stacked, that is also the most you would be able to make per month(since the work limits are still in place due to the SSI), making the most they can make a year only ~$21k annually. That means that's the most the disabled would be able to make, which does not sound favorable at all. Second, not only is this justification based in no firsthand experience of actually being on public assistance for your own survival, but no one is even proposing this option to begin with, and too many people are falling into nirvana fallacy levels of thinking for their justification on this matter. If you ask me, if anything, the onus should be on the senators to draft bills that actually fix this problem. They are not though, and Yang is the one actually being vocal about removing these strict work requirements and limits for people and bringing true reform to our broken welfare system; something I'm not hearing from Bernie outside of platitudes, and that are certainly not reflected in his disability rights page: Free college? Not working in NYC. If Bernie tries to get his free college through, it will most likely end up in a similar form as college here, where: it only applies to first-time undergrads, you or your household have to be making less than six figures, and I can easily see Bernie accepting such conditions. The problem with this though, is that it essentially makes free college a means-tested program where (going back to the issues of state government), people end up falling through the cracks. Even worse, since the government is the one subsidizing, the price for college will only rise even more because the students not covered will still be forced to pay out of pocket due to "needing college". This is literally what made college so expensive in the first place: the government subsidized and increased access to loans for students, leading to an increase in tuition and in turn, administrative costs, since the government was footing the bill for those covered. Those not covered still had to pay absurd costs for their tuition. Bernie is not getting the actual cost of college down, he's just subsidizing it (thus enabling the colleges' price gouging, while Yang is aiming to get the cost down altogether by NOT subsidizing them and forcing them to lower their administrative costs in order to receive continual funding. That way, college will be affordable for everyone who needs it, rather than just being free for some students and not others. As someone who spent 6 years in college, was on the dean's list, and graduated with a double B. A and both GPAs around 3. 5, Yang is 100% right here: To me, Bernie’s policies seem to have this continuing pattern of hurting the same people he wanted to help. The $15 min wage is leading to store closings in my neighborhood. It led to a significant cut in hours and my paycheck, and more "on-call" days at my previous job when it initially passed, while some of my coworkers were let-go altogether. There is now a large scanning robot at my local supermarket - the employees let the customers take pictures with it, making it especially good for business. Meanwhile, all the $15/hr has done is make it HARDER to get hired, because bosses don’t see hiring people as worth the risk. Instead, they just double the load of their current employees. Meanwhile, while stores that served the community since I was a little kid are now closing, corporate chains have moved in to take their place. It also pushes people OFF of the welfare receive in the instances where they are properly paid, due to no longer being below the threshold; I know several people this has actually happened to. According to Bernie's logic though, these are the companies that "deserve" to stay in business since they can afford it - even though they're not paying their employees a "living wage" either. Castro actually had provisions in his plans that forbid unfair scheduling practices, but these seem to be absent in Bernie's minimum wage plan. I have had one Bernie supporter counter that at least now someone can get a second job, but that's even worse. People are already overworked to death, and hiring has become harder on business since it passed. Maybe it works in wealthier areas like Midtown or Williamsburg, but for poorer communities like mine, it's hurting us and is just not a good policy in practice; in no way should it be implemented federally. South Korea now also seems to be learning this the hard way: The detrimental effects of the $15/hr aside, making it harder on small businesses is gravely detrimental to minorities. Right now, we have a system where a black man without a record has a tougher time finding a job in both the public and private sector, than a poor white guy with a criminal record. I would feel much safer if minorities and vulnerable groups who could not get the government to listen to their concerns, have a way to be able to start their own businesses and provide for themselves and their families safely, doing something they enjoy, instead of joining gangs or relying on criminal activity out of desperation instead - which is all too common where I live. I will even go as far to say that, while it has already been far more difficult for black people to generate inter-generational wealth (especially due to FDR's New Deal and the redlining that happened as a result of it) compared to white families, white America seemed to have little to no issue with capitalism. Now that it's not working for their kids and grand kids, suddenly the system needs to be torn down altogether and we need to have socialism instead. For the longest time, women and minorities were banned from public institutions, with the emphasis here on public. Women's colleges and the HBCUs were created as a RESPONSE to this. Now, rather than fixing capitalism and having it work for more people than it ever has before, progressives are more keen on shutting down those avenues that brought about true progress for millions of minorities, all because of this dire commitment to ideological dogma. There are now Bernie supporters unironically claiming Human-Centered Capitalism does not exist, cannot exist, and the system must be destroyed altogether in favor of a more government-driven system. In the same country that left minorities powerless for centuries and sought to remove their power by making them MORE dependent on government programs for survival. If this sounds terribly privileged and dickish to you, welcome to my world. Additionally, he wants to ban charter schools, and his supporters wholeheartedly encourage this. Wait, why is this a problem? Isn't he doing this to help black and brown students? He is, but that's not the point. The point is that state public school systems have a long history of failing minority students and Bernie's own privilege (I hate to keep pointing this out but I really have to) is blinding him from seeing how important charter schools are to minority kids. Here in NYC, schools are still heavily zoned, making our schools the most racially segregated in America. In my neighborhood, all the public schools are poorly funded, while the white schools aren't. Furthermore, minority parents DON'T want charters taken away. They are the only schools even giving the kids here actual opportunity at a decent future. There is actually an ongoing fight in my own community right now because De Blasio is also anti-charter and he is not giving these kids any decent options after closing down their schools. Meanwhile, he was caught turning a blind eye towards a high-school grade-fixing and rigging their students' grades, allowing them to pass no matter what: Are some charters rackets that need to be dealt with? Absolutely. But again, regulation is what's needed and blanketly banning alternative choices and leaving only state-run public institutions and services as an option, only hurts minorities further by taking these alternative choices away from them. Should billionaires pay their fair share? Of course. I believe we should be attacking crony corporatism and the revolving door though, which Yang plans to do. Bernie just seems to want to fix corruption at the fed level, but even with that, he does not even support ranked choice voting, and his public funding voucher only exists in the form of a tax credit, which is useless for those that can't work. As for Yang and his proposals, the great thing about Yang is that he seems to care about everyone, whether they’re able to work or not. Even when it comes to his healthcare proposal, he actually includes public transportation included as part of it - something ALL the candidates should be doing as far as I'm concerned. This is the first real plan outside of UBI that seems to deal with a serious obstacle faced specifically by those in poverty that other candidates have given little to no mention to, Bernie included. I live in Southeast, Queens and whenever I travel to Manhattan, it's almost like visiting another country with how much better served it is compared to my neighborhood. Bernie funding infrastructure at the fed level just tells me that the states will prioritize the areas they want to, rather than helping everyone. Healthcare is not the biggest obstacle to the poor, transport and mobility is. For instance, I have medicaid but rarely go to the doctor, because where I live, the minimum amount Metrocard you can buy is $15-something at the local bodega or check cashing place, compared to the sheer amount of kiosks that litter Manhattan where you can buy one for just $3 or add any amount on to your card to make up the difference. As evidenced by years of infrastructural gentrification of NYC, better infrastructure does not reach everyone and does not equate to easier access. Right now, my entire family receives less than $1k/m on welfare. With Yang, we would get $3k/m. That’s an unbelievable game-changer for our lives, especially considering we live in NYC and bills are already extremely difficult to pay. The concerns about VAT are nonsense. I wish people fought against sales taxes as hard as I see them railing against the VAT. Just last year, De Blasio passed an internet tax shortly before running for president with little opposition; it now costs an additional dollar or more to buy anything online. I've had to pass on lunch while running errands at times, simply because I couldn't cover the sales tax at the fast food places around here. Yang's VAT is not isolated like sales taxes are; it comes alongside the FD. This not only covers the VAT itself, but also the taxes and fees that make it difficult for us to get things we need now. It is a lifetime payout and does not need to be continually renewed like current welfare. As for M4A, if the government can’t offer better insurance, then they shouldn’t be removing that choice from other people, especially those most vulnerable to abuse from the government. Right now, the biggest issue is people being denied treatment based on the insurance they have. If it is universal, that is no longer an issue. Right now, it seems like he's committing the same mistakes towards the poor that we’ve been doing for decades now. When it comes to what gov considers “basic healthcare”, it’s abysmal. Medicaid is subsidized private, but the state still allows what’s provided. I want to know that what the government is offering me is worth having only Berniecare, and for me, as his bill is now, it isn’t. Now, I am not against it, but it’s not enough to actually help those who are poor. For me, Yang’s plan is immediately better. He’s actually dissecting and attacking the roadblocks the poor go through in regards to medicare at every level, and isn’t just eliminating private and focusing on eliminating it as if it makes everything better, while treating everything else as an afterthought. Again, he is even covering public transit costs with his proposal, something that still makes it hard for me to visit a doctor despite having medicaid. As a bonus, it means I wouldn’t even have to use my UBI on transportation for doctors’ visits. History in the U. S has proven eliminating private choices never works. We’re not European countries. We’re the size of a continent and we’re a highly heterogeneous, diverse population. If you don’t think for a second that the government won’t use that to its advantage, then I don’t know what to say; it’s not something I can afford to risk in my position. Meanwhile, I see progressives continuing to praise and defend and push for MORE only public options, despite how broken public services already are, just because of their own ideal of how it should be. I only wish they knew how out of touch this comes across as. Having the same program as European nations =/= same quality as European nations. We are not Europe and we are not Canada. Those countries don't have nearly the amount of history nor issues with poverty AND race-related caste systems that America does. Moreover, millions of people will be losing their insurance jobs, because due to barriers in application at the state level, not everyone is eligible for a gov job regardless of what Bernie says. It’s not that I’m against M4A(I’m not). There’s just so many things wrong with the way he is specifically going about it and eliminating duplicative private as an option. Banning private isn’t necessary. We should be attacking the core issues of why private isn’t working here, despite working in places like Switzerland, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, etc. If the problem isn’t specifically private healthcare, then we shouldn’t be attacking that. Rather, we should be attacking the sheer amount of corruption and incentives for corruption in our current private healthcare market AS WELL as the differences in doctors' licensing requirements and healthcare among states (again, a state government issue). Outside of rhetoric, I am sorry, but Bernie really doesn’t seem to actually be championing the poor in any tangible way outside of voting on bills. He is horribly weak on any topic concerning vulnerable groups and that aren't strictly related to corruption or class struggle. Being a bigot is neither illegal nor corrupt, and addressing those issues will not fix bigotry. I really do appreciate that Yang actually recognizes this in his proposals and the utmost importance in subverting the power of states rights by directly giving money to people instead of having it trickle down to the states instead. Bernie has voted on some good and some not so good things, just like all the other senators. For all the good he has voted on, he has also voted: against the Amber Alert system, against legalizing gay marriage and favoring leaving it to the states(again, state gov), for the 1994 Crime Bill, and for Trump's SESTA/FOSTA bill that is anti-sex work. If you were wondering why so many black supporters of Biden, Warren, Kamala, are so wary and even vitriolic of Bernie and his supporters (and by extension Yang who they don't trust, due to having surface similarities with Bernie), well now you know why; he does not even support any means of reparations, and continues to give tone deaf reasons for why. Whether you agree with reparations or not, the answer he gives here is ridiculous, and like Buttigieg, continues to tie in poverty in minority communities with lack of education, all while failing to see WHY they are poor in the first place - they lack money and capital because our very own system of government in the U. S made it difficult to accumulate that. His plan is also more just a criminal justice reform plan, and while that will help minorities in the system, I think we should be more focused on having less minorities go down the criminal route in the first place. Like his disability rights page, he simply pivots back to the FJG and $15 min wage as economic solutions for minorities. Again, all his solutions lead back to ultimately leaving the execution of these programs in the hands of the states, and giving them the final say in how they're actually handled at the ground level. Actions speak louder than words, and from what I’ve seen firsthand, the actual actions he’s taken is currently hurting communities like mine more than helping them. So yeah, that's it. Thanks for taking the time out to listen. I'll try to update, add links, etc. as time goes by. EDIT: Wow! Thank you so much for the gold and silver!! WHOA! PLATINUM AND ALL THE OTHER STUFF! THANK YOU!! 🙏🏾❤️.

While many holocaust survivors openly express rage and uncontrolled bitterness towards their persecutors, other survivors display only an emotional deadness and a pervasive feeling of being alone and scared. In the movie "Fateless, Gyuri, a young man sent to Buchenwald, moves from a childlike innocence to world-weariness in the span of one year. When he comes home, he feels more alone than he did at the camp and even expresses a sort of homesickness for the camaraderie he felt. Hungary's entry for Best International Feature Film at the 2019 Academy Awards, Barnabás Tóth's ( Camembert Rose" Those Who Remained (Akik maradtak) asks us to rethink our idea of what liberation meant to those just released from the camps. Based on the 2004 novel of the same name by Zsuzsa F. Varkonyi and set in Budapest between 1948 and 1953, the suffering of the Holocaust years are deeply etched on the face of Doctor Aládar (Aldo) Körner (Károly Hajduk, One Day. a slender, gaunt man of about forty who is going through the motions of his Ob-Gyn practice at a Budapest hospital, but the look in his eyes cannot hide the trauma of his wife's death and that of his two young boys.
Coming from the Israelite Community Orphanage, Klára (Abigél Szõke, X - The eXploited. a mature-looking 16-year-old girl, sees Dr. Körner, for a gynecological exam to find out why her puberty has come so late. At first, angry, fearful, and wound into a tight knot, when she reaches out and suddenly embraces the doctor, it is clear that she is seeking more than an exam but a respite from her desperate loneliness. Outspoken in her disdain for her classmates at school and her great-aunt Olgi (Mari Nagy, Budapest Noir" with whom she lives, Klára only begins to reveal her repressed humanity when Aldo responds to her like a fellow human being in pain, not a wounded animal.
Bringing the film to life with her tremendously affecting performance, Szõke refuses to return to Olgi even though she loves her and wants her to be happy. Instead, she moves in with Aldo who acts as a foster father, sharing custody with her aunt. He makes the rules, however, and is strict about physical contact, especially when she crawls into bed with him at night. Gradually, both open up though to each other. They talk about God, her parents, the sister she feels guilty about not being able to save from death, and, in a tender scene, he shares with her his photo album from before the war.
Though Aldo strictly adheres to the rules of propriety, their developing relationship raises some eyebrows, and the interest of Soviet operatives. Amidst talk of a Soviet crackdown on personal freedoms, Aldo and Klára do their best to be discreet, but it does not prevent others from gossiping. In one instance, after being seen in a park laying her head on Aldo's lap, Klára is defiant when interrogated by a Communist official. Similarly, Pista (Andor Lukáts, The Whiskey Bandit. Aldo's colleague at work, says that people have disappeared during the night and tells him that he has joined the Communist Party and has been asked to inform on him.
Those Who Remained is an intimate look at two damaged souls who have been bruised and shaken by life but are now ready to begin the reconstruction of their life, a process which will, in Percy Bysshe Shelley's phrase "lift the veil from the hidden beauty of the world." Knowing that any expression of the love they feel for each other will push the boundaries of what is considered acceptable, both realize that their protestations of innocence will not be enough to keep them safe, and that they must now reach out to others, bringing solace and joy in a world in dire need of both.

Csak nekem ugrott be rögtön a Leon a profi erről a filmről. Someone to live for quote. Tisztelt Hartung Attila! Hiszen egymástól függetlenül ugyanazt a traumát élték át, szeretteik elvesztését. Kiedy Harry poznał Sally Watch stream of consciousness. Kiedy harry pozna c5 82 sally watch stream reaction. When Harry Met Sally is a film that not only supports witty and memorable dialogue, it provides a great analysis of the interaction between the two sexes: and poses the universal question of whether men and women can truly be friends. This is the film that launched Meg Ryan as queen of the romantic comedy lead, as well as established Billy Crystal as a strong leading man, both becoming their characters with such unique tastes they are destined to become cinematic icons.
This is the film so many other romantic comedies try to live up to, yet most often fail to accomplish. Creating two memorable and likable characters such as Harry Burns and Sally Albright has proven to be more stereotype than unique. Harry with his easy going attitude towards women, and Sally with her obsessive compulsive ways. The two are seeming opposites personality wise, and at first, these traits keep them apart. It takes them ten years to even have a real conversation without tension between them because one is a man, and the other a woman. Yet it takes one event, both getting dumped by their significant others, to bring them together to bond over.
What makes this film so memorable is the dialogue, with an outstanding screenplay by Nora Ephron. The Oscar nomination she was given for writing this film was highly deserved, for penning such lines as why men and women can never be friends, as well as Harry's declaration of love t the film's end.
The film also supports a strong supporting cast from Carrie Fisher, as well as Bruno Kirby as the best friends to the lead characters. Every supporting player here remains memorable, down to the cameos such as director Reiner's mother who states the now famous, I'll have what she's having." line.
The ending to this film can bring tears to those who watch it every time. It is films like this that give hope to people that one day, they will find that one person who challenges them, and loves them for exactly who they are. When Harry Met Sally is the perfect film to watch for people of all ages, and will certainly stand the test of time. Highly recommended.

Also, you can use a few tips for browsing more safely on streaming sites. AdBlock. We think that the first step to stay away from the majority of ads and pops is to use one of the free browser extensions called AdBlock or AdBlock Plus. The installation process of this extension (or plugin) tooks only a few seconds and will help you get rid of many annoying advertisement. VPN. In case you are worried about some legality issues because of using 123movies, then the best method of browsing streaming sites risk-free is to access them from a Virtual Private Network. Usually VPN's aren't free and there is a cost if you want to browse completely anonymous. Alternative sites for 123Movies ProjectFreeTv. This one is a very old streaming site and it went through many rough periods during all this years but it remained online no matter what happened with Google or other sites from this niche. ProjectFreeTv doesn't have any movies in his database but they are the best when it comes to tv series. All of their content is available for free in HD quality and without any country restrictions, so you can watch shows on ProjectFreeTv from any location. SolarMovie. It is one of the most popular brands of streaming movies. It gained popularity along the years by constantly publishing the latest movies and tv series, offering only good quality content to their fans. SolarMovie's interface is modern, simple, organized and eye-catching, so they are giving you all the reasons to use their website. They are using ads to keep the website alive, but you will get used to it very fast and if not, then just install an adblocker. Putlocker. With one of the biggest databases of movies and tv shows, this one might become your favorite streaming site if you give it a chance. Putlocker is not using aggressive ads and your browsing experience will be very good. Also, this website does not require registration in order to watch movies or shows. Everything is free and in high quality.

Genuinely incredible i cant cope

Man Peter knows how to deliver a speech 💥. Ahhh I can't wait that last episode was my favourite yet. 9's turn of the Earth speech though... Dr who trailer. Dr. who merchandise. Please include sixth doctor speech from trail of time lord. And second doctor's speech with Victoria... No.
I'm sorry, this resurrection was. is. one of the worst mistakes I have seen in TV.
I watched the first 3 episodes with growing dismay. I thought "Surely they must get better! Except they didn't.
Dr Who was NOT a mishmash of the worst aspects of Star Trek (TV) and Monty Python (TV. But this parody is. It doesn't even have the intelligence and care those wonderful programs incorporated, let alone the commitment to quality the original Dr. Who serials showed. I won't catalog all the wrongs in the 3 episodes, because 1,000 words is not enough.
If the makers of this disaster wish to be remembered favourably, they should immediately and permanently remove the series from the air and apologise to all the viewers.
1 out of ten.

Damn Capaldi really knew how to deliver a speech huh. Dr who fox.

The 12th doctor's Speech about War was the most Heartbreaking speech and nothing can beat it.

0:07 is that the fam and captain Jack

Twelve's final speech gets me every time! And Thirteen's speech about love was so defining, I really couldn't see any other Doctor doing that. I can't help but notice that this is merely part 1. I hope there will be some more Classic Who speeches! Especially Unlimited Rice Pudding from Rememberence of the Daleks deserves to be on this in humble my opinion. One day, I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. The 1st Doctor never comes back. Exactly this version is not available on Spotify? Why. Series 11 theme song right here 😂😂.

Literally everybody is here from a fandom edit omg, im here from tokyo ghoul lol

That Cyberman design is INCREDIBLE. Truly tremendous work from the design team- really well done. Rose Tyler. “Can You Hear Me Now? I really cried when i saw this episode.

Assisto dês de pequeno. Dr. who blog. What a brilliant episode. However at some points the ctbermans voice was hard to understand. Zellin was good. But I still prefer The Nightmare Man from The Sarah Jane Adventures as the epitome of Nightmares. We can all agree Moffat's writing was sometimes. off! But, oh, did he write darn good speeches when he needed to.

Little too heavy on dialogue, the concept of Gods wasn't explained scientifically enough, and the resolution was rushed. But that wasn't the point. It was a character study of our protagonists. And it did a bloody brilliant job at that! Really liked it. Dr. who series. É doctor melhor série. Press J to jump to the feed. Twelve is the master of speeches, no one can.
Dr. whooves (instrumental) the living tombstone.
Dr who, Really? this turpitude.

Dr house. The Doctor Still hasn't come back to susin. Also at 11:47 IS THAT MY BOI DR. PHIL. LOL I know thats not him but he kinda does look like him. The question: to whom was Yaz referring as her secret lover. Absolutely fantastic, episode cant wait for next one, allonsy, geronimo. Gonna be brilliant! G. Did anyone else notice the reference to bill being converted in the doctors last story with the cybermen? As for the episode, i enjoyed it (even if it does retcon the audio) hand some good moments, wasn't sure about the story at the begining but once the cyberman showed up it was good. The whole house concept was good, it gave me chimes of midnight vibes (probaly cause i listened to it less than two months ago) and inlike the unexplained ghosts, that gave it a creepy feeling and it suited graham getting messed around with and confused at the end (i know that will probaly be unpopular as it seems these days every minor thing needs explaining, which i find a bit stupid, in a story some things just don't need an explaination.

I declare a Time War. Dr. who and the daleks.

Inside the rain free movie torrent. There is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible. Yellow, black. Ooh, black and yellow! Let's shake it up a little. Barry! Breakfast is ready! Coming! Hang on a second. Hello? - Barry? - Adam? - Oan you believe this is happening? - I can't. I'll pick you up. Looking sharp. Use the stairs. Your father paid good money for those. Sorry. I'm excited. Here's the graduate. We're very proud of you, son. A perfect report card, all B's. Very proud. Ma! I got a thing going here. - You got lint on your fuzz. - Ow! That's me! - Wave to us! We'll be in row 118, 000. - Bye! Barry, I told you, stop flying in the house! - Hey, Adam. - Hey, Barry. - Is that fuzz gel? - A little. Special day, graduation. Never thought I'd make it. Three days grade school, three days high school. Those were awkward. Three days college. I'm glad I took a day and hitchhiked around the hive. You did come back different. - Hi, Barry. - Artie, growing a mustache? Looks good. - Hear about Frankie? - Yeah. - You going to the funeral? - No, I'm not going. Everybody knows, sting someone, you die. Don't waste it on a squirrel. Such a hothead. I guess he could have just gotten out of the way. I love this incorporating an amusement park into our day. That's why we don't need vacations. Boy, quite a bit of pomp... under the circumstances. - Well, Adam, today we are men. - We are! - Bee-men. - Amen! Hallelujah! Students, faculty, distinguished bees, please welcome Dean Buzzwell. Welcome, New Hive Oity graduating class of...... 9:15. That concludes our ceremonies. And begins your career at Honex Industries! Will we pick ourjob today? I heard it's just orientation. Heads up! Here we go. Keep your hands and antennas inside the tram at all times. - Wonder what it'll be like? - A little scary. Welcome to Honex, a division of Honesco and a part of the Hexagon Group. This is it! Wow. Wow. We know that you, as a bee, have worked your whole life to get to the point where you can work for your whole life. Honey begins when our valiant Pollen Jocks bring the nectar to the hive. Our top-secret formula is automatically color-corrected, scent-adjusted and bubble-contoured into this soothing sweet syrup with its distinctive golden glow you know as... Honey! - That girl was hot. - She's my cousin! - She is? - Yes, we're all cousins. - Right. You're right. - At Honex, we constantly strive to improve every aspect of bee existence. These bees are stress-testing a new helmet technology. - What do you think he makes? - Not enough. Here we have our latest advancement, the Krelman. - What does that do? - Catches that little strand of honey that hangs after you pour it. Saves us millions. Can anyone work on the Krelman? Of course. Most bee jobs are small ones. But bees know that every small job, if it's done well, means a lot. But choose carefully because you'll stay in the job you pick for the rest of your life. The same job the rest of your life? I didn't know that. What's the difference? You'll be happy to know that bees, as a species, haven't had one day off in 27 million years. So you'll just work us to death? We'll sure try. Wow! That blew my mind! "What's the difference? " How can you say that? One job forever? That's an insane choice to have to make. I'm relieved. Now we only have to make one decision in life. But, Adam, how could they never have told us that? Why would you question anything? We're bees. We're the most perfectly functioning society on Earth. You ever think maybe things work a little too well here? Like what? Give me one example. I don't know. But you know what I'm talking about. Please clear the gate. Royal Nectar Force on approach. Wait a second. Check it out. - Hey, those are Pollen Jocks! - Wow. I've never seen them this close. They know what it's like outside the hive. Yeah, but some don't come back. - Hey, Jocks! - Hi, Jocks! You guys did great! You're monsters! You're sky freaks! I love it! I love it! - I wonder where they were. - I don't know. Their day's not planned. Outside the hive, flying who knows where, doing who knows what. You can'tjust decide to be a Pollen Jock. You have to be bred for that. Right. Look. That's more pollen than you and I will see in a lifetime. It's just a status symbol. Bees make too much of it. Perhaps. Unless you're wearing it and the ladies see you wearing it. Those ladies? Aren't they our cousins too? Distant. Distant. Look at these two. - Couple of Hive Harrys. - Let's have fun with them. It must be dangerous being a Pollen Jock. Yeah. Once a bear pinned me against a mushroom! He had a paw on my throat, and with the other, he was slapping me! - Oh, my! - I never thought I'd knock him out. What were you doing during this? Trying to alert the authorities. I can autograph that. A little gusty out there today, wasn't it, comrades? Yeah. Gusty. We're hitting a sunflower patch six miles from here tomorrow. - Six miles, huh? - Barry! A puddle jump for us, but maybe you're not up for it. - Maybe I am. - You are not! We're going 0900 at J-Gate. What do you think, buzzy-boy? Are you bee enough? I might be. It all depends on what 0900 means. Hey, Honex! Dad, you surprised me. You decide what you're interested in? - Well, there's a lot of choices. - But you only get one. Do you ever get bored doing the same job every day? Son, let me tell you about stirring. You grab that stick, and you just move it around, and you stir it around. You get yourself into a rhythm. It's a beautiful thing. You know, Dad, the more I think about it, maybe the honey field just isn't right for me. You were thinking of what, making balloon animals? That's a bad job for a guy with a stinger. Janet, your son's not sure he wants to go into honey! - Barry, you are so funny sometimes. - I'm not trying to be funny. You're not funny! You're going into honey. Our son, the stirrer! - You're gonna be a stirrer? - No one's listening to me! Wait till you see the sticks I have. I could say anything right now. I'm gonna get an ant tattoo! Let's open some honey and celebrate! Maybe I'll pierce my thorax. Shave my antennae. Shack up with a grasshopper. Get a gold tooth and call everybody "dawg"! I'm so proud. - We're starting work today! - Today's the day. Oome on! All the good jobs will be gone. Yeah, right. Pollen counting, stunt bee, pouring, stirrer, front desk, hair removal... - Is it still available? - Hang on. Two left! One of them's yours! Oongratulations! Step to the side. - What'd you get? - Picking crud out. Stellar! Wow! Oouple of newbies? Yes, sir! Our first day! We are ready! Make your choice. - You want to go first? - No, you go. Oh, my. What's available? Restroom attendant's open, not for the reason you think. - Any chance of getting the Krelman? - Sure, you're on. I'm sorry, the Krelman just closed out. Wax monkey's always open. The Krelman opened up again. What happened? A bee died. Makes an opening. See? He's dead. Another dead one. Deady. Deadified. Two more dead. Dead from the neck up. Dead from the neck down. That's life! Oh, this is so hard! Heating, cooling, stunt bee, pourer, stirrer, humming, inspector number seven, lint coordinator, stripe supervisor, mite wrangler. Barry, what do you think I should... Barry? Barry! All right, we've got the sunflower patch in quadrant nine... What happened to you? Where are you? - I'm going out. - Out? Out where? - Out there. - Oh, no! I have to, before I go to work for the rest of my life. You're gonna die! You're crazy! Hello? Another call coming in. If anyone's feeling brave, there's a Korean deli on 83rd that gets their roses today. Hey, guys. - Look at that. - Isn't that the kid we saw yesterday? Hold it, son, flight deck's restricted. It's OK, Lou. We're gonna take him up. Really? Feeling lucky, are you? Sign here, here. Just initial that. - Thank you. - OK. You got a rain advisory today, and as you all know, bees cannot fly in rain. So be careful. As always, watch your brooms, hockey sticks, dogs, birds, bears and bats. Also, I got a couple of reports of root beer being poured on us. Murphy's in a home because of it, babbling like a cicada! - That's awful. - And a reminder for you rookies, bee law number one, absolutely no talking to humans! All right, launch positions! Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz! Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz! Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz! Black and yellow! Hello! You ready for this, hot shot? Yeah. Yeah, bring it on. Wind, check. - Antennae, check. - Nectar pack, check. - Wings, check. - Stinger, check. Scared out of my shorts, check. OK, ladies, let's move it out! Pound those petunias, you striped stem-suckers! All of you, drain those flowers! Wow! I'm out! I can't believe I'm out! So blue. I feel so fast and free! Box kite! Wow! Flowers! This is Blue Leader. We have roses visual. Bring it around 30 degrees and hold. Roses! 30 degrees, roger. Bringing it around. Stand to the side, kid. It's got a bit of a kick. That is one nectar collector! - Ever see pollination up close? - No, sir. I pick up some pollen here, sprinkle it over here. Maybe a dash over there, a pinch on that one. See that? It's a little bit of magic. That's amazing. Why do we do that? That's pollen power. More pollen, more flowers, more nectar, more honey for us. Oool. I'm picking up a lot of bright yellow. Oould be daisies. Don't we need those? Oopy that visual. Wait. One of these flowers seems to be on the move. Say again? You're reporting a moving flower? Affirmative. That was on the line! This is the coolest. What is it? I don't know, but I'm loving this color. It smells good. Not like a flower, but I like it. Yeah, fuzzy. Ohemical-y. Oareful, guys. It's a little grabby. My sweet lord of bees! Oandy-brain, get off there! Problem! - Guys! - This could be bad. Affirmative. Very close. Gonna hurt. Mama's little boy. You are way out of position, rookie! Ooming in at you like a missile! Help me! I don't think these are flowers. - Should we tell him? - I think he knows. What is this?! Match point! You can start packing up, honey, because you're about to eat it! Yowser! Gross. There's a bee in the car! - Do something! - I'm driving! - Hi, bee. - He's back here! He's going to sting me! Nobody move. If you don't move, he won't sting you. Freeze! He blinked! Spray him, Granny! What are you doing?! Wow... the tension level out here is unbelievable. I gotta get home. Oan't fly in rain. Mayday! Mayday! Bee going down! Ken, could you close the window please? Ken, could you close the window please? Oheck out my new resume. I made it into a fold-out brochure. You see? Folds out. Oh, no. More humans. I don't need this. What was that? Maybe this time. This time. This time! This time! This... Drapes! That is diabolical. It's fantastic. It's got all my special skills, even my top-ten favorite movies. What's number one? Star Wars? Nah, I don't go for that..... of stuff. No wonder we shouldn't talk to them. They're out of their minds. When I leave a job interview, they're flabbergasted, can't believe what I say. There's the sun. Maybe that's a way out. I don't remember the sun having a big 75 on it. I predicted global warming. I could feel it getting hotter. At first I thought it was just me. Wait! Stop! Bee! Stand back. These are winter boots. Wait! Don't kill him! You know I'm allergic to them! This thing could kill me! Why does his life have less value than yours? Why does his life have any less value than mine? Is that your statement? I'm just saying all life has value. You don't know what he's capable of feeling. My brochure! There you go, little guy. I'm not scared of him. It's an allergic thing. Put that on your resume brochure. My whole face could puff up. Make it one of your special skills. Knocking someone out is also a special skill. Bye, Vanessa. Thanks. - Vanessa, next week? Yogurt night? - Sure, Ken. You know, whatever. - You could put carob chips on there. - Bye. - Supposed to be less calories. I gotta say something. She saved my life. All right, here it goes. Nah. What would I say? I could really get in trouble. It's a bee law. You're not supposed to talk to a human. I can't believe I'm doing this. I've got to. Oh, I can't do it. Oome on! No. Yes. No. Do it. I can't. How should I start it? "You like jazz? " No, that's no good. Here she comes! Speak, you fool! Hi! I'm sorry. - You're talking. - Yes, I know. You're talking! I'm so sorry. No, it's OK. It's fine. I know I'm dreaming. But I don't recall going to bed. Well, I'm sure this is very disconcerting. This is a bit of a surprise to me. I mean, you're a bee! I am. And I'm not supposed to be doing this, but they were all trying to kill me. And if it wasn't for you... I had to thank you. It's just how I was raised. That was a little weird. - I'm talking with a bee. - Yeah. I'm talking to a bee. And the bee is talking to me! I just want to say I'm grateful. I'll leave now. - Wait! How did you learn to do that? - What? The talking thing. Same way you did, I guess. "Mama, Dada, honey. " You pick it up. - That's very funny. Bees are funny. If we didn't laugh, we'd cry with what we have to deal with. Anyway... Oan I..... you something? - Like what? I don't know. I mean... Ooffee? I don't want to put you out. It's no trouble. It takes two minutes. - It's just coffee. - I hate to impose. - Don't be ridiculous! - Actually, I would love a cup. Hey, you want rum cake? - I shouldn't. - Have some. - No, I can't. - Oome on! I'm trying to lose a couple micrograms. - Where? - These stripes don't help. You look great! I don't know if you know anything about fashion. Are you all right? No. He's making the tie in the cab as they're flying up Madison. He finally gets there. He runs up the steps into the church. The wedding is on. And he says, "Watermelon? I thought you said Guatemalan. Why would I marry a watermelon? " Is that a bee joke? That's the kind of stuff we do. Yeah, different. So, what are you gonna do, Barry? About work? I don't know. I want to do my part for the hive, but I can't do it the way they want. I know how you feel. - You do? - Sure. My parents wanted me to be a lawyer or a doctor, but I wanted to be a florist. - Really? - My only interest is flowers. Our new queen was just elected with that same campaign slogan. Anyway, if you look... There's my hive right there. See it? You're in Sheep Meadow! Yes! I'm right off the Turtle Pond! No way! I know that area. I lost a toe ring there once. - Why do girls put rings on their toes? - Why not? - It's like putting a hat on your knee. - Maybe I'll try that. - You all right, ma'am? - Oh, yeah. Fine. Just having two cups of coffee! Anyway, this has been great. Thanks for the coffee. Yeah, it's no trouble. Sorry I couldn't finish it. If I did, I'd be up the rest of my life. Are you...? Oan I take a piece of this with me? Sure! Here, have a crumb. - Thanks! - Yeah. All right. Well, then... I guess I'll see you around. Or not. OK, Barry. And thank you so much again... for before. Oh, that? That was nothing. Well, not nothing, but... This can't possibly work. He's all set to go. We may as well try it. OK, Dave, pull the chute. - Sounds amazing. - It was amazing! It was the scariest, happiest moment of my life. Humans! I can't believe you were with humans! Giant, scary humans! What were they like? Huge and crazy. They talk crazy. They eat crazy giant things. They drive crazy. - Do they try and kill you, like on TV? - Some of them. But some of them don't. - How'd you get back? - Poodle. You did it, and I'm glad. You saw whatever you wanted to see. You had your "experience. " Now you can pick out yourjob and be normal. - Well... - Well? Well, I met someone. You did? Was she Bee-ish? - A wasp?! Your parents will kill you! - No, no, no, not a wasp. - Spider? - I'm not attracted to spiders. I know it's the hottest thing, with the eight legs and all. I can't get by that face. So who is she? She's... human. No, no. That's a bee law. You wouldn't break a bee law. - Her name's Vanessa. - Oh, boy. She's so nice. And she's a florist! Oh, no! You're dating a human florist! We're not dating. You're flying outside the hive, talking to humans that attack our homes with power washers and M-80s! One-eighth a stick of dynamite! She saved my life! And she understands me. This is over! Eat this. This is not over! What was that? - They call it a crumb. - It was so stingin' stripey! And that's not what they eat. That's what falls off what they eat! - You know what a Oinnabon is? - No. It's bread and cinnamon and frosting. They heat it up... Sit down!.. hot! - Listen to me! We are not them! We're us. There's us and there's them! Yes, but who can deny the heart that is yearning? There's no yearning. Stop yearning. Listen to me! You have got to start thinking bee, my friend. Thinking bee! - Thinking bee. - Thinking bee. Thinking bee! Thinking bee! Thinking bee! Thinking bee! There he is. He's in the pool. You know what your problem is, Barry? I gotta start thinking bee? How much longer will this go on? It's been three days! Why aren't you working? I've got a lot of big life decisions to think about. What life? You have no life! You have no job. You're barely a bee! Would it kill you to make a little honey? Barry, come out. Your father's talking to you. Martin, would you talk to him? Barry, I'm talking to you! You coming? Got everything? All set! Go ahead. I'll catch up. Don't be too long. Watch this! Vanessa! - We're still here. - I told you not to yell at him. He doesn't respond to yelling! - Then why yell at me? - Because you don't listen! I'm not listening to this. Sorry, I've gotta go. - Where are you going? - I'm meeting a friend. A girl? Is this why you can't decide? Bye. I just hope she's Bee-ish. They have a huge parade of flowers every year in Pasadena? To be in the Tournament of Roses, that's every florist's dream! Up on a float, surrounded by flowers, crowds cheering. A tournament. Do the roses compete in athletic events? No. All right, I've got one. How come you don't fly everywhere? It's exhausting. Why don't you run everywhere? It's faster. Yeah, OK, I see, I see. All right, your turn. TiVo. You can just freeze live TV? That's insane! You don't have that? We have Hivo, but it's a disease. It's a horrible, horrible disease. Dumb bees! You must want to sting all those jerks. We try not to sting. It's usually fatal for us. So you have to watch your temper. Very carefully. You kick a wall, take a walk, write an angry letter and throw it out. Work through it like any emotion: Anger, jealousy, lust. Oh, my goodness! Are you OK? Yeah. - What is wrong with you?! - It's a bug. He's not bothering anybody. Get out of here, you creep! What was that? A Pic 'N' Save circular? Yeah, it was. How did you know? It felt like about 10 pages. Seventy-five is pretty much our limit. You've really got that down to a science. - I lost a cousin to Italian Vogue. - I'll bet. What in the name of Mighty Hercules is this? How did this get here? Oute Bee, Golden Blossom, Ray Liotta Private Select? - Is he that actor? - I never heard of him. - Why is this here? - For people. We eat it. You don't have enough food of your own? - Well, yes. - How do you get it? - Bees make it. - I know who makes it! And it's hard to make it! There's heating, cooling, stirring. You need a whole Krelman thing! - It's organic. - It's our-ganic! It's just honey, Barry. Just what?! Bees don't know about this! This is stealing! A lot of stealing! You've taken our homes, schools, hospitals! This is all we have! And it's on sale?! I'm getting to the bottom of this. I'm getting to the bottom of all of this! Hey, Hector. - You almost done? - Almost. He is here. I sense it. Well, I guess I'll go home now and just leave this nice honey out, with no one around. You're busted, box boy! I knew I heard something. So you can talk! I can talk. And now you'll start talking! Where you getting the sweet stuff? Who's your supplier? I don't understand. I thought we were friends. The last thing we want to do is upset bees! You're too late! It's ours now! You, sir, have crossed the wrong sword! You, sir, will be lunch for my iguana, Ignacio! Where is the honey coming from? Tell me where! Honey Farms! It comes from Honey Farms! Orazy person! What horrible thing has happened here? These faces, they never knew what hit them. And now they're on the road to nowhere! Just keep still. What? You're not dead? Do I look dead? They will wipe anything that moves. Where you headed? To Honey Farms. I am onto something huge here. I'm going to Alaska. Moose blood, crazy stuff. Blows your head off! I'm going to Tacoma. - And you? - He really is dead. Uh-oh! - What is that?! - Oh, no! - A wiper! Triple blade! - Triple blade? Jump on! It's your only chance, bee! Why does everything have to be so doggone clean?! How much do you people need to see?! Open your eyes! Stick your head out the window! From NPR News in Washington, I'm Oarl Kasell. But don't kill no more bugs! - Bee! - Moose blood guy!! - You hear something? - Like what? Like tiny screaming. Turn off the radio. Whassup, bee boy? Hey, Blood. Just a row of honey jars, as far as the eye could see. Wow! I assume wherever this truck goes is where they're getting it. I mean, that honey's ours. - Bees hang tight. - We're all jammed in. It's a close community. Not us, man. We on our own. Every mosquito on his own. - What if you get in trouble? - You a mosquito, you in trouble. Nobody likes us. They just smack. See a mosquito, smack, smack! At least you're out in the world. You must meet girls. Mosquito girls try to trade up, get with a moth, dragonfly. Mosquito girl don't want no mosquito. You got to be kidding me! Mooseblood's about to leave the building! So long, bee! - Hey, guys! - Mooseblood! I knew I'd catch y'all down here. Did you bring your crazy straw? We throw it in jars, slap a label on it, and it's pretty much pure profit. What is this place? A bee's got a brain the size of a pinhead. They are pinheads! Pinhead. - Oheck out the new smoker. - Oh, sweet. That's the one you want. The Thomas 3000! Smoker? Ninety puffs a minute, semi-automatic. Twice the nicotine, all the tar. A couple breaths of this knocks them right out. They make the honey, and we make the money. "They make the honey, and we make the money"? Oh, my! What's going on? Are you OK? Yeah. It doesn't last too long. Do you know you're in a fake hive with fake walls? Our queen was moved here. We had no choice. This is your queen? That's a man in women's clothes! That's a drag queen! What is this? Oh, no! There's hundreds of them! Bee honey. Our honey is being brazenly stolen on a massive scale! This is worse than anything bears have done! I intend to do something. Oh, Barry, stop. Who told you humans are taking our honey? That's a rumor. Do these look like rumors? That's a conspiracy theory. These are obviously doctored photos. How did you get mixed up in this? He's been talking to humans. - What? - Talking to humans?! He has a human girlfriend. And they make out! Make out? Barry! We do not. - You wish you could. - Whose side are you on? The bees! I dated a cricket once in San Antonio. Those crazy legs kept me up all night. Barry, this is what you want to do with your life? I want to do it for all our lives. Nobody works harder than bees! Dad, I remember you coming home so overworked your hands were still stirring. You couldn't stop. I remember that. What right do they have to our honey? We live on two cups a year. They put it in lip balm for no reason whatsoever! Even if it's true, what can one bee do? Sting them where it really hurts. In the face! The eye! - That would hurt. - No. Up the nose? That's a killer. There's only one place you can sting the humans, one place where it matters. Hive at Five, the hive's only full-hour action news source. No more bee beards! With Bob Bumble at the anchor desk. Weather with Storm Stinger. Sports with Buzz Larvi. And Jeanette Ohung. - Good evening. I'm Bob Bumble. - And I'm Jeanette Ohung. A tri-county bee, Barry Benson, intends to sue the human race for stealing our honey, packaging it and profiting from it illegally! Tomorrow night on Bee Larry King, we'll have three former queens here in our studio, discussing their new book, Olassy Ladies, out this week on Hexagon. Tonight we're talking to Barry Benson. Did you ever think, "I'm a kid from the hive. I can't do this"? Bees have never been afraid to change the world. What about Bee Oolumbus? Bee Gandhi? Bejesus? Where I'm from, we'd never sue humans. We were thinking of stickball or candy stores. How old are you? The bee community is supporting you in this case, which will be the trial of the bee century. You know, they have a Larry King in the human world too. It's a common name. Next week... He looks like you and has a show and suspenders and colored dots... Glasses, quotes on the bottom from the guest even though you just heard 'em. Bear Week next week! They're scary, hairy and here live. Always leans forward, pointy shoulders, squinty eyes, very Jewish. In tennis, you attack at the point of weakness! It was my grandmother, Ken. She's 81. Honey, her backhand's a joke! I'm not gonna take advantage of that? Quiet, please. Actual work going on here. - Is that that same bee? - Yes, it is! I'm helping him sue the human race. - Hello. - Hello, bee. This is Ken. Yeah, I remember you. Timberland, size ten and a half. Vibram sole, I believe. Why does he talk again? Listen, you better go 'cause we're really busy working. But it's our yogurt night! Bye-bye. Why is yogurt night so difficult?! You poor thing. You two have been at this for hours! Yes, and Adam here has been a huge help. - Frosting... - How many sugars? Just one. I try not to use the competition. So why are you helping me? Bees have good qualities. And it takes my mind off the shop. Instead of flowers, people are giving balloon bouquets now. Those are great, if you're three. And artificial flowers. - Oh, those just get me psychotic! - Yeah, me too. Bent stingers, pointless pollination. Bees must hate those fake things! Nothing worse than a daffodil that's had work done. Maybe this could make up for it a little bit. - This lawsuit's a pretty big deal. - I guess. You sure you want to go through with it? Am I sure? When I'm done with the humans, they won't be able to say, "Honey, I'm home, " without paying a royalty! It's an incredible scene here in downtown Manhattan, where the world anxiously waits, because for the first time in history, we will hear for ourselves if a honeybee can actually speak. What have we gotten into here, Barry? It's pretty big, isn't it? I can't believe how many humans don't work during the day. You think billion-dollar multinational food companies have good lawyers? Everybody needs to stay behind the barricade. - What's the matter? - I don't know, I just got a chill. Well, if it isn't the bee team. You boys work on this? All rise! The Honorable Judge Bumbleton presiding. Oase number 4475, Superior Oourt of New York, Barry Bee Benson v. the Honey Industry is now in session. Mr. Montgomery, you're representing the five food companies collectively? A privilege. Benson... you're representing all the bees of the world? I'm kidding. Yes, Your Honor, we're ready to proceed. Montgomery, your opening statement, please. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, my grandmother was a simple woman. Born on a farm, she believed it was man's divine right to benefit from the bounty of nature God put before us. If we lived in the topsy-turvy world Mr. Benson imagines, just think of what would it mean. I would have to negotiate with the silkworm for the elastic in my britches! Talking bee! How do we know this isn't some sort of holographic motion-picture-capture Hollywood wizardry? They could be using laser beams! Robotics! Ventriloquism! Oloning! For all we know, he could be on steroids! Mr. Benson? Ladies and gentlemen, there's no trickery here. I'm just an ordinary bee. Honey's pretty important to me. It's important to all bees. We invented it! We make it. And we protect it with our lives. Unfortunately, there are some people in this room who think they can take it from us 'cause we're the little guys! I'm hoping that, after this is all over, you'll see how, by taking our honey, you not only take everything we have but everything we are! I wish he'd dress like that all the time. So nice! Oall your first witness. So, Mr. Klauss Vanderhayden of Honey Farms, big company you have. I suppose so. I see you also own Honeyburton and Honron! Yes, they provide beekeepers for our farms. Beekeeper. I find that to be a very disturbing term. I don't imagine you employ any bee-free-ers, do you? - No. - I couldn't hear you. Because you don't free bees. You keep bees. Not only that, it seems you thought a bear would be an appropriate image for a jar of honey. They're very lovable creatures. Yogi Bear, Fozzie Bear, Build-A-Bear. You mean like this? Bears kill bees! How'd you like his head crashing through your living room?! Biting into your couch! Spitting out your throw pillows! OK, that's enough. Take him away. Sting, thank you for being here. Your name intrigues me. - Where have I heard it before? - I was with a band called The Police. But you've never been a police officer, have you? No, I haven't. No, you haven't. And so here we have yet another example of bee culture casually stolen by a human for nothing more than a prance-about stage name. Oh, please. Have you ever been stung, Mr. Sting? Because I'm feeling a little stung, Sting. Or should I say... Gordon M. Sumner! That's not his real name?! You idiots! Mr. Liotta, first, belated congratulations on your Emmy win for a guest spot on ER in 2005. Thank you. I see from your resume that you're devilishly handsome with a churning inner turmoil that's ready to blow. I enjoy what I do. Is that a crime? Not yet it isn't. But is this what it's come to for you? Exploiting tiny, helpless bees so you don't have to rehearse your part and learn your lines, sir? Watch it, Benson! I could blow right now! This isn't a goodfella. This is a badfella! Why doesn't someone just step on this creep, and we can all go home?! - Order in this court! - You're all thinking it! Order! Order, I say! - Say it! - Mr. Liotta, please sit down! I think it was awfully nice of that bear to pitch in like that. I think the jury's on our side. Are we doing everything right, legally? I'm a florist. Well, here's to a great team. To a great team! Well, hello. - Ken! - Hello. I didn't think you were coming. No, I was just late. I tried to call, but... the battery. I didn't want all this to go to waste, so I called Barry. Luckily, he was free. Oh, that was lucky. There's a little left. I could heat it up. Yeah, heat it up, sure, whatever. So I hear you're quite a tennis player. I'm not much for the game myself. The ball's a little grabby. That's where I usually sit. Right... there. Ken, Barry was looking at your resume, and he agreed with me that eating with chopsticks isn't really a special skill. You think I don't see what you're doing? I know how hard it is to find the rightjob. We have that in common. Do we? Bees have 100 percent employment, but we do jobs like taking the crud out. That's just what I was thinking about doing. Ken, I let Barry borrow your razor for his fuzz. I hope that was all right. I'm going to drain the old stinger. Yeah, you do that. Look at that. You know, I've just about had it with your little mind games. - What's that? - Italian Vogue. Mamma mia, that's a lot of pages. A lot of ads. Remember what Van said, why is your life more valuable than mine? Funny, I just can't seem to recall that! I think something stinks in here! I love the smell of flowers. How do you like the smell of flames?! Not as much. Water bug! Not taking sides! Ken, I'm wearing a Ohapstick hat! This is pathetic! I've got issues! Well, well, well, a royal flush! - You're bluffing. - Am I? Surf's up, dude! Poo water! That bowl is gnarly. Except for those dirty yellow rings! Kenneth! What are you doing?! You know, I don't even like honey! I don't eat it! We need to talk! He's just a little bee! And he happens to be the nicest bee I've met in a long time! Long time? What are you talking about?! Are there other bugs in your life? No, but there are other things bugging me in life. And you're one of them! Fine! Talking bees, no yogurt night... My nerves are fried from riding on this emotional roller coaster! Goodbye, Ken. And for your information, I prefer sugar-free, artificial sweeteners made by man! I'm sorry about all that. I know it's got an aftertaste! I like it! I always felt there was some kind of barrier between Ken and me. I couldn't overcome it. Oh, well. Are you OK for the trial? I believe Mr. Montgomery is about out of ideas. We would like to call Mr. Barry Benson Bee to the stand. Good idea! You can really see why he's considered one of the best lawyers... Hey Redditor, if you're still reading this for whatever reason, I cut some of the script cause 40, 000 characters is the max, lol. This is your captain. Would a Miss Vanessa Bloome in 24B please report to the cockpit? And please hurry! What happened here? There was a DustBuster, a toupee, a life raft exploded. One's bald, one's in a boat, they're both unconscious! - Is that another bee joke? - No! No one's flying the plane! This is JFK control tower, Flight 356. What's your status? This is Vanessa Bloome. I'm a florist from New York. Where's the pilot? He's unconscious, and so is the copilot. Not good. Does anyone onboard have flight experience? As a matter of fact, there is. - Who's that? - Barry Benson. From the honey trial?! Oh, great. Vanessa, this is nothing more than a big metal bee. It's got giant wings, huge engines. I can't fly a plane. - Why not? Isn't John Travolta a pilot? - Yes. How hard could it be? Wait, Barry! We're headed into some lightning. This is Bob Bumble. We have some late-breaking news from JFK Airport, where a suspenseful scene is developing. Barry Benson, fresh from his legal victory... That's Barry!.. attempting to land a plane, loaded with people, flowers and an incapacitated flight crew. Flowers?! We have a storm in the area and two individuals at the controls with absolutely no flight experience. Just a minute. There's a bee on that plane. I'm quite familiar with Mr. Benson and his no-account compadres. They've done enough damage. But isn't he your only hope? Technically, a bee shouldn't be able to fly at all. Their wings are too small... Haven't we heard this a million times? "The surface area of the wings and body mass make no sense. " - Get this on the air! - Got it. - Stand by. - We're going live. The way we work may be a mystery to you. Making honey takes a lot of bees doing a lot of small jobs. But let me tell you about a small job. If you do it well, it makes a big difference. More than we realized. To us, to everyone. That's why I want to get bees back to working together. That's the bee way! We're not made of Jell-O. We get behind a fellow. - Black and yellow! - Hello! Left, right, down, hover. - Hover? - Forget hover. This isn't so hard. Beep-beep! Beep-beep! Barry, what happened?! Wait, I think we were on autopilot the whole time. - That may have been helping me. - And now we're not! So it turns out I cannot fly a plane. All of you, let's get behind this fellow! Move it out! Move out! Our only chance is if I do what I'd do, you copy me with the wings of the plane! Don't have to yell. I'm not yelling! We're in a lot of trouble. It's very hard to concentrate with that panicky tone in your voice! It's not a tone. I'm panicking! I can't do this! Vanessa, pull yourself together. You have to snap out of it! You snap out of it. You snap out of it. - You snap out of it! - You snap out of it! - You snap out of it! - You snap out of it! - You snap out of it! - You snap out of it! - Hold it! - Why? Oome on, it's my turn. How is the plane flying? I don't know. Hello? Benson, got any flowers for a happy occasion in there? The Pollen Jocks! They do get behind a fellow. - Black and yellow. All right, let's drop this tin can on the blacktop. Where? I can't see anything. Oan you? No, nothing. It's all cloudy. Oome on. You got to think bee, Barry. Thinking bee! Thinking bee! Thinking bee! Wait a minute. I think I'm feeling something. - What? - I don't know. It's strong, pulling me. Like a 27-million-year-old instinct. Bring the nose down. Thinking bee! Thinking bee! Thinking bee! - What in the world is on the tarmac? - Get some lights on that! Thinking bee! Thinking bee! Thinking bee! - Vanessa, aim for the flower. Out the engines. We're going in on bee power. Ready, boys? Affirmative! Good. Good. Easy, now. That's it. Land on that flower! Ready? Full reverse! Spin it around! - Not that flower! The other one! - Which one? - That flower. - I'm aiming at the flower! That's a fat guy in a flowered shirt. I mean the giant pulsating flower made of millions of bees! Pull forward. Nose down. Tail up. Rotate around it. - This is insane, Barry! - This's the only way I know how to fly. Am I koo-koo-kachoo, or is this plane flying in an insect-like pattern? Get your nose in there. Don't be afraid. Smell it. Full reverse! Just drop it. Be a part of it. Aim for the center! Now drop it in! Drop it in, woman! Come on, already. Barry, we did it! You taught me how to fly! - Yes. No high-five! - Right. Barry, it worked! Did you see the giant flower? What giant flower? Where? Of course I saw the flower! That was genius! - Thank you. - But we're not done yet. Listen, everyone! This runway is covered with the last pollen from the last flowers available anywhere on Earth. That means this is our last chance. We're the only ones who make honey, pollinate flowers and dress like this. If we're gonna survive as a species, this is our moment! What do you say? Are we going to be bees, orjust Museum of Natural History keychains? We're bees! Keychain! Then follow me! Except Keychain. Hold on, Barry. Here. You've earned this. Yeah! I'm a Pollen Jock! And it's a perfect fit. All I gotta do are the sleeves. Oh, yeah. That's our Barry. Mom! The bees are back! If anybody needs to make a call, now's the time. I got a feeling we'll be working late tonight! Here's your change. Have a great afternoon! Can I help who's next? Would you like some honey with that? It is bee-approved. Don't forget these. Milk, cream, cheese, it's all me. And I don't see a nickel! Sometimes I just feel like a piece of meat! I had no idea. Barry, I'm sorry. Have you got a moment? Would you excuse me? My mosquito associate will help you. Sorry I'm late. He's a lawyer too? I was already a blood-sucking parasite. All I needed was a briefcase. Have a great afternoon! Barry, I just got this huge tulip order, and I can't get them anywhere. No problem, Vannie. Just leave it to me. You're a lifesaver, Barry. Can I help who's next? All right, scramble, jocks! It's time to fly. Thank you, Barry! That bee is living my life! Let it go, Kenny. - When will this nightmare end?! - Let it all go. - Beautiful day to fly. - Sure is. Between you and me, I was dying to get out of that office. You have got to start thinking bee, my friend. - Thinking bee! - Me? Hold it. Let's just stop for a second. Hold it. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, everyone. Can we stop here? I'm not making a major life decision during a production number! All right. Take ten, everybody. Wrap it up, guys. I had virtually no rehearsal for that.

Inside the rain free movie 2016. Thank you for thinking of us, the desperate, the lost, the sleepless & the bewildered, I wish I had the guts to venture into the unknown like yourselves. Inside the rain free movie 2017. Inside the rain free movie poster. This is proper good stuff. Verification! m Edit: Thanks for the gold x2! Disclaimer: this verification/picture has nothing to do with the corona beer company. Update: this post has gotten huge! I’ll reply to everyone as I can, and will post more updates as they come. CROSSPOSTED If you can hit like and bump it so the world can be more aware, I’d appreciate it! Local time: 2/7/2020 08:08 What seems to be a military truck showed up on port? Will update here as I can. There are men in camo that are port side. 09:00 We got fresh towels! To those on the ship, just call your attendant periodically. They are washing towels every now and again and can offer fresh ones. 09:41 Interviewed with a Japanese newspaper. There are now two military trucks and 5 ambulances, all in hazmat suits - imagining more people will be taken ashore for treatment. The food situation has gotten MUCH better - we went to bed hungry and thirsty, but are actually full now. 09:57 41 new cases for a total of 61 cases on board. Lots of news crews, helicopters, and ambulances arriving. No news has been shared from Princess Cruises - we learned from the news. The help desk told us that those who have tested negative will be notified as well. 10:28 Thermometers and gloves will be delivered to every stateroom. Gloves and masks must be worn for open deck time. Temperature must be recorded at regular intervals - any temperature higher than 37. 5c must be reported. The cruise line is doing the very best that they can, and seem to have a system in place now that works. 15:29 Just woke up from a much needed nap - lunch came! Still 1-2 dozen ambulances out. Someone in our hallway was taken away. It feels a bit like the hunger games with uncertainty of who will be plucked next. Lunch is really nice today - much like the dining hall meals. Now our only issues are uncertainty and boredom, plus of course confinement and lack of exercise. 16:29 Worthy update.. I think booze is for sale? 16:58 We found out some of our aussie friends were told that they were negative. Huge relief, as they sat next to us for the two weeks of the cruise at dinner! 18:05 Japanese authorities continue to take people off the boat, with about a dozen people to go, looks like. People are getting roughly an hours notice before being removed from the boat. Situation on the boat is good - we’re still stuck to the cabins but making the most of the situation. We’ve actually been busy today with everything online! We’ve interviewed with a japanese newspaper and Chinese news site today, with an American news channel tonight/tomorrow. People have reached out to us to see if we can get supplies delivered. Y’all have been so kind and responsive, we really appreciate it! 18:30 We learned that some people were separated from their husbands today due to being tested positive. Their spouses are not allowed to join them. Wonder if those spouses are being re-tested? Our status has yet to be confirmed. 18:51 Dinner is here! Food situation remains to be great. When I catch up with replies, I’ll work on getting a photo album up. 19:35 Read on our Facebook thread that people are not being reimbursed by travel insurance due to the fact that it’s an epidemic. In one case, a news journalist reached out to an insurer asking about why they weren’t covering us - turns out, they changed their mind and covered them! Hopefully either we can get coverage, OR the cruise line does the right thing for lost wages, lost time, uncertainty, and just in general the situation that none of us can control. 19:40 41 new cases with a total of 61. This concludes the 273 originally tested. Happy to say that my wife and I are NEGATIVE! Nationality breakdown: Argentina: 1 Australia: 5 Canada: 5 Japan: 21 American: 8 Britain: 1 Quarantine official end date is Wednesday, 2/19/2020, unless further developments are made by the Japanese health ministry. The US embassy is working to get us off the boat on this date. Until then, cabin confinement will be a thing, along with visits to the open deck every day on a rotating schedule. Not everyone will get to go each day. Tomorrow, ocean view staterooms can go outside. All interior cabins have been able to see light today. Mandatory masks/gloves will be worn. The Japanese health ministry has provided us with additional doctors and medical staff to assist with the ongoing situation. We’ve been provided with even more water, and have two gallons stockpiled of bottled water. The cruise ship is well stocked, and passengers are being well taken care of. Cabin fever and keeping occupied is the major challenge for many of us, though puzzles are being handed out, origami paper, and many movies are being added. The cruise line has really come together to make the best of the situation. Broadband speeds have greatly increased, and are free. They’re also working on in-room activities to keep us occupied. A new food/beverage menu is being developed. They’ve addressed that being confined is a tough situation, and truly are making quality of life better. Balconies have been addressed - we can go out as we please, but are required to wear masks. The crew has done an amazing job through extraordinary circumstances, and Princess Cruises has really stepped to the plate today. The captain has been much more vocal today - I can’t imagine the stress that’s being put on him between the company, embassies, the Japanese government, and passengers frustrations. Tomorrow morning at about 08:00, the Diamond Princess will set sail to sea for normal marine operations (I. e, making water), and will return in the evening back to Yokohama’s daikoku cruise terminal. I’ll have more updates tomorrow - off to watch a movie with the wife! Things are good, and today, we had BACON. Our clogged arteries are happy! Next adventure starts tomorrow. 2/8/2020 Day 4 07:13 Replied to many comments/Facebook, about to interview with channel 5 in DFW. There are a couple ambulances out but from our understanding everyone was taken off who was positive last night. 08:21 First person has been taken off the ship. Just finished interviewing with Chanel 5 in DFW - will be on at 22:00 central standard time. 08:44 Noticed a few suitcases and people that look like they’re boarding - I’m thinking that these were the Japanese medical professionals that they were talking about. 08:55 The president of Princess Cruises is here in japan working to make sure the cruise remains comfortable for its passengers. A few passengers reported fevers and are being checked by medical staff - that’s what the ambulances are for. A consoling hotline has been opened for guests aboard the cruise. We will shortly set sail to perform essential marine activities off the coast of japan. We will arrive back to Yokohama on 2/9/2020, 0900. They are warning for rough seas such as the other night. Breakfast has just arrived! Looking good food wise again. In other news, we talked to some crew and asked how they were doing. They stated that they are hanging in there, but not sleeping too well due to the increased workload. It’s going to be a long two weeks for them - they’re working incredibly hard! 09:26 The princess diamond just tooted it’s horn and is now off to sea! 11:31 Deck 8 even room numbers with an ocean view window can go to the open deck now for a bit.

Finally beat the game and it was a fantastic experience! I plan on writing out my overall thoughts on the whole game in a separate ‘review’ thread, so this will just be my thoughts on chapter 10 and the ending. It's really long this time because I wanted to really get most of my thoughts on this final chapter in there. As with the previous threads, I’ll be marking Xenogears, XBC, and just a small bit of Xenosaga episode I spoilers this time for those who haven’t played them. --- Continuing on from the opening scene of chapter 10, we head inside the elevator and are greeted by space! The view outside the window is really neat, and again it goes to show how far we’ve come, from Azurda’s back on the Cloud Sea all the way to space. I also enjoyed that heart-to-heart where Zeke and Pandoria are trying to find the Titans and Morag starts claiming that she’s also finding a ton of them, just to win their competition. It shows a fun side to Morag that we don’t get to see, at least in the main game. Following this, Malos makes it to the Architect and we find out that all the data from Malos (and most likely Mythra too) is being carried to him, (Xenogears spoilers) which reminds me of the memory cubes that carry the party’s data to Solaris. As we head up the Rhadamanthus Portal, I also like how it’s kinda reminiscent of a security clearance, definitely feeding into the idea of Elysium being a space biome that people moved into and/or out of. The long hallway to it and the ambiance of the moment really adds to the buildup of finally reaching Elysium, and when we pass through the ’s a barren wasteland. While expected, it still hit actually seeing the ruins and hearing Rex’s and Pyra’s despair at what remained of it. After all this buildup, it felt pretty surreal running around Elysium and seeing the rundown modern highway, the park, and all the other structures. The wistful music playing in the background also totally captures the feel of a once great but now decrepit civilization, which I loved for a different reason than I do the other field themes. I have to admit though, while unintentional, I burst out laughing when Rex touched the bike and it dissolved into dust instantly. After that, we head to the church, which actually reminded me of (Xenosaga episode I spoilers) the church in the Encephalon when Shion and the party are trying to find KOS-MOS for her data of the Gnosis attack on the Durandal (just recently got to that point before I started getting really into XC2). In that area, part of the church is breaking down and that segment in the game revolves around the party having to face their painful memories and seeing illusions from within the party’s souls (which will come into play for XC2 in just a bit). There’s also Febronia inside the church, who longs for a place where the Realians could find peace, mimicking Rex’s own journey to find Elysium. Admittedly, the connection is still very broad and it doesn’t fit cleanly, so I don’t think it means all that much in this context. After we enter the church, we get a pretty sudden and kinda eerie moment where we hear a high-pitched sound effect and the party suddenly disappears, which also gave me Xenosaga vibes since I remember segments that were kinda like that. I’m a sucker for surreal segments in games, so this and what comes afterwards got me really intrigued and invested (more than I already was). After Rex moves forward, we find ourselves in a landscape with Ardainian soldiers walking by and skulls surrounding Rex, which I interpret to be what would’ve happened if the war between Mor Ardain and Uraya broke out. Then we encounter Nia and Dromarch, who are unnervingly upset with Rex and we engage in battle with them. I can see where they’re going with this, and I'm already loving this segment. Relating to what I mentioned earlier, we’ll most likely be experiencing Rex’s deepest fears of what the party thinks of him and theoretical doomsday scenarios. Onto the fight with Nia, I liked the eerie sounds in the background and the resentful quotes from Nia. From what I could pick out, there’s: “We came all this for what? ” “There is no Elysium. There never was. ” “Everything we’ve ’s all been for nothing. ” “Damn you for not picking me. This whole time and all this way: Pyra. Pyra. ” “Why don’t you take more notice of me? ” After the fight with Nia, we move onto Morag and Brighid, who are upset about the death of Mor Ardain's people. As for the lines here, I heard: “You disappoint me. I had high hopes for you. ” “And you call yourself driver of the Aegis? Niall? My people? This is all your fault. ” “How long do you intend to continue this charade (I think she said charade)? ” Then we move onto Zeke+Pandoria and Tora+Poppi, the latter of which is definitely the most shattering. Poppi shouldn’t be allowed to be bitter. XD Also, the lines continue to be good: “The Aegis isn’t for the likes of you, chum. She needs a real man. ” (I bet this one really shattered Rex. ) “Tora wanted to be real driver, but it is impossible to become real driver! ” “Just a kid, ain'tcha? Nothing special. ” Also, this fight was surprisingly hard. It took me a few tries to win. Tora was especially annoying because he kept blocking near everything, so I just focused on Zeke first. It was pretty hard trying to hear the clips and I actually went and watched other videos on these fights to see if I could pinpoint any more, but I probably still missed out on some quotes. If anyone has compiled a list of everything that’s said during this segment, I’d love to see what else was said. After this, we get Azurda lamenting his lack of purpose and long life with no goal, and Rex continues to be pained by everyone's uncharacteristic bitterness. Then we return to Fonsett and find Pyra and Mythra oddly making dinner for him. After Rex washes his hands with his gloves on, he returns and after the two start to argue, Rex completely breaks down. I really like this scene for showing how completely off-guard and broken he is after all this turmoil he’s facing (which isn’t something we’ve really gotten aside from a brief moment at the start of ch. 7), and as he’s trying to get his words out, you see how he tries to hold his tears back but can’t help but break down. After the scene ends, we finally meet the Architect and he is confirmed to be Klaus. He informs us that his purpose behind giving us the illusions was to see how mankind has changed, and then we’re greeted to a massive lore dump that completely flips everything as we know it on its head. We learn that Klaus believes the natural state of man is to harbor desires and try to realize them, and we get further elaboration on his goal that (XBC spoilers) reframes/changes his motive for creating a new universe. Just as Amalthus did, he lost hope for mankind and when he discovered the Conduit, he seized the opportunity to change the world for the better as he perceived it. We also learn that parallel universes are a thing and that the Conduit essentially acts as a doorway between them, which opens the door to the other Xeno games potentially being shared within this multiverse. Upon creating a new world, parts of Earth were scattered around the different universes, and what remained of the old world was Morthya’s ruins of Klaus’ body, which I definitely was not expecting. The fact that Morthya was already in ruins when it was transported to Alrest is interesting, as I thought it was humans with the power of core crystals who led that land to ruin, and considering it was a part of Earth before, they didn’t have core crystals (as will be elaborated on a bit later). Also, (XBC spoilers) the fact that Klaus is halved here bares the question of why is Zanza in XBC whole? (I haven’t played XBC in a long time, so my memory won’t be the sharpest and may be wrong, as fair warning) For now, I assume they’ll explain it as Klaus essentially living as the Bionis - rather than as himself - but then moving his soul into the Monado after his ‘death’ in the battle between Bionis and Mechonis. Then, it is only through regaining his power via Shulk that he is able to reproduce his own whole body. Even beyond that though, it draws the question of whether Klaus is the god/Architect of all these different universes, and if so, how is he present in all of them when one half is already in Alrest alone and he establishes that the other half is in the XBC dimension? I feel like it closes the door on opportunities for more of these universes - and potential stories - to feature Klaus, unless Klaus is an unreliable narrator and he’s unaware of other matters in the multiverse himself. Considering that Zanza doesn’t make any mention of his body being halved, I guess it could be reasonable to assume he didn’t know about Alrest Klaus’ existence, which could then be applied to Alrest Klaus himself too. That just sounds like a mess of retcons and goes down a rabbit hole in how much you could stretch that though, I feel, so I don’t really think that’s the case. That, or maybe Zanza’s defeat and Klaus’ passing could recomplete him and send him into another universe. I can definitely see XBC:DE adding on and changing stuff to make sense of this all. Going past this revelation, we learn that Klaus sees this as his punishment for changing the world, and he sought to restore what remained of it here by first creating the Cloud Sea, which had the ability to disassemble and rebuild matter, aka fix the ruins of Morthya. Next, he created the core crystals, which contained memories of Earth’s former organisms, and scattered them across the Cloud Sea, where they eventually grew and evolved into Titans, then other organisms, and eventually mankind again. Despite this, he still didn’t trust the new world in fear of another ‘him’, prompting him to create the Trinity Processor consisting of Logos (Malos), Pneuma, and Ontos. Unfortunately for him, Ontos ‘triggered a space-time transition event, and disappeared forever. ’ (More XBC spoilers) The similar wording between Klaus’ ‘space-time transition event’ and Alvis’ ‘phase transition experiment facility’ could point to Alvis being Ontos. Considering Malos flat-out has a Monado, that also opens the door to Ontos also having a Monado, which could kinda fit with Alvis. The fact that they’ve retconned ‘The Birth of a Universe’ really means anything could be on the table, so there’s a number of ways to take this and make pieces fit into place. The major point of conflict I see is Alvis’ statement that ‘he is Monado’ and that he was there since the beginning, which shouldn’t be the case if he actually existed as one of the Trinity Processor (TP) cores that were created after Alrest Klaus’ creation of Alrest. I guess it could be argued that in the short timespan between Klaus’ creation of a new universe and the birth of Bionis and Mechonis (B&M), Alrest Klaus went through the opening stages of Alrest up to the creation of the TP. As we know, Logos’ and Pneuma’s power source both come from the Conduit, so it stands to reason the same applies to Ontos. Because of this, Ontos can leave to B&M - via the power of the Conduit - to create that world, and thus ‘was there since the beginning. ’ Interestingly, if Alvis/Ontos also plays by the same rules as Blades in Alrest, it could be that he resonated with Shulk, hence why Shulk doesn't get harmed by the Monado while Dunban does. It could also be that Alvis is simply part of a higher plane of existence that’s tapped further into the power of the Conduit - considering he’s the administrative computer of a phase transition experiment facility aka the computer that initiated the creation of the new universe - and was essentially trapped/brought down into one of the TP cores upon their creation, (Xenogears spoilers) somewhat similar to the Wave Existence being trapped within the Zohar and escaping at the end. (end XG spoilers) This could give him the power and opportunity to create B&M but then also be pulled into Alrest as one of the TP cores, before leaving for B&M. Admittedly, I’m typing this segment fairly late at night, so all of this may not be totally comprehensible. Going back to Klaus’ lore dump, we learn that Logos and Pneuma were meant to manage the Blades and that the core crystals of each Blade feed their information about their drivers and the world back to the Aegises, hence why Malos earlier said that their cores contain the very blueprint of all life. This info is then sent back to the Blades to create newly advanced and evolved lifeforms that later become Titans and so on, all for the purpose of restoring the world. He then tells us about the survivors from the old world who still remained in Morthya and unfortunately turned into those mutated creatures after experimenting with core crystals in search for immortality. Yet another product that shows the folly of man and how they bring about their own destruction, similar to Klaus with the old world. That said, if I interpreted it correctly, it was also from their experiments that the Blades and Titans were later created, so that did contribute to Klaus’ hopes. Also, thinking back to Elysium, I guess it’s now more likely that Elysium was actually a space colony that the workers of the Beanstalk and maybe more people (due to the presumed destruction on Earth’s surface) lived in, which fell into decay as a result of the people being teleported elsewhere and/or to Morthya. After this, Klaus talks about the fears people contain within themselves and how they begin to question who they are, using Amalthus as one such example. In this way, that ideal was also impressed upon Malos. We later learn the Conduit has began stirring again and that it is indeed the power source of Pneuma. Amidst all this tension and heavy lore, Rex then comes out with yet another golden line of the Salvager’s Code and shows how hopelessly optimistic he is. With that, we are told that Klaus will disappear soon and the Conduit with him, serving as the high-stakes ‘timer’ for this finale. Then as Rex and co leave, the Architect has a small little line about possibly being able to face Galea again that could possibly point to something else in the future, if it’s taken literally. I could also see it just being from a spiritual standpoint, in that he’ll be able to face her in the afterlife, realizing how foolish he was and having been humbled rather than being the self-righteous man he once was. After we leave the room, Pneuma goes and confirms that Malos is headed for Aion to destroy the world, who’s definitely going to be our final boss. What I found neat is that you can actually run around the Architect’s room afterwards and even talk to Klaus, which I wasn’t fully expecting, so that’s nice. Following this, we see the destruction the Artifices are wreaking on Alrest (which fortunately doesn’t apply gameplay-wise so you can go and restock on stuff:P) and head into a massive hangar, which - combined with the music - really suits the buildup to the final boss. Entering the final boss room, we get one more conversation with Malos, and I like how they highlighted Malos’ connection with Jin and how he kinda saw/used that as validation for wanting to rid the world of everything. I think it leaves it up for interpretation whether this isn’t really just Amalthus’ influence making him see this as additional justification, or whether it’s Malos’ own beliefs that shine through here. Also, I really liked the delivery on his lines here; I could feel the anger behind “Come at me, kid! Come, my partner! ” In general, I think Malos was one of the best voices in this game. Now we get into the final boss, and his theme is fantastic. I legit got chills when the crescendo hit right when you start the fight and unsheathe your weapon. They definitely got the timing on that one right. The chorus of the song (I assume 1:10 and 2:49) is definitely my favorite part of the track for how grandiose it feels and how hard they go in. I’m a sucker for those kinds of swells when it comes to JRPG final boss themes, which is a big part of why the final boss tracks are generally some of my favorite songs in games. As for the fight itself, my party was again Rex, Nia, and Tora (I pretty much ran that team for the entire game), all at level 60. Because of that though and probably my setup (as of chapter 8, it was pretty much a straight shot to the end of the game for me), a lot of the named attacks, like Blizzard, took one or more of our members down to low health or dead. For Rex, my setup for pretty much the whole game was high critical rate with critical healing, that way I could keep him healed while fully being on the offensive. The Arts Chain ability plus food combo to boost arts recharge and party gauge gain is fantastic, since it let me spam the arts to charge up the specials and quickly fill up the party gauge. It was certainly needed for me to counter how often Rex and Nia would die. I pretty much just used Mythra/Pyra for the whole thing for Rex. For Nia, I put the two other healing rare blades she had, Vess and Boreas, and prioritized her HP Potion gain and the power of her healing arts. For Tora, I didn’t get QTpi (nice name) so it was only alpha and QT for him. When it came to upgrading them, I just relied on the ether crystals I got from the expansion pack. Fortunately, she didn’t require much to still be pretty good; I think I used about 15 or so thousand of them total for Tank Mod IV, opening some special enhancing ram slots, expanding capacity, and giving them aggro plus chips. I hate the fact that they tied Poppi’s entire upgrading mechanic to a minigame, so if it weren’t for those free crystals, they’d probably have next to nothing upgraded on them. Once we got to two-thirds health remaining, another cutscene started where we got some more action scenes for the party and an insane moment that surprised the hell out of me: Shulk’s iconic quote, “Today, we use our power to fell a god, and then seize our destiny! ” Not only was it great to hear that quote again, but the realization that both final bosses were happening simultaneously shocked me in an awesome way. For the rest of the fight, it took me probably 7 or so tries to get him. On one of those attempts, I managed to get far enough that he used Prometheus (this man legit just threw a meteor at us) and we died because I just barely didn’t have the party gauge full to pull off a chain attack. Fighting the Artifice Colossus (Colossi I guess? ) actually got the party a couple of levels throughout my attempts so Rex got to level 62, Nia got to 61, and Tora got to 62. After beating the final boss, Rex and Pneuma deal their final blow, where the Aegis Sword undergoes swordception and grows swords out of its swords, and Malos is defeated, just as Klaus and the Conduit disappear from the world. But before he goes, Klaus does some final deed that will probably provide a new world for the people after the destruction from the artifices is over. With that done, the space station begins to fall apart with the disappearance of the Conduit, and of course, we get our self-sacrifice from Pneuma. Poppi’s gonna have a hard time dealing the blow to Rex. She also touched Azurda’s core crystal, so that’ll definitely give him some energy to come into play for later. Then Rex and co. enter the port with the ships and he comes to the realization of what that means. Now we get to the real kicker of the scene. Pneuma tells them that she has to stay behind to destroy the World Tree and Rex pleads Poppi to save her, and you can see all the shock and sadness on her face. I also liked Rex’s delivery when he temporarily breaks down, as short as it was. We then get Pneuma transferring the rest of her core crystal to Rex, and as we heard earlier in the game, she’ll be able to act without it for a bit of time. After she sends them out, we hear Logos ask her about being alive and she most likely says “I love you” or “Thank you” to Rex. After their ship breaks apart, Azurda comes in with that energy from earlier and turns back into his older form, and they come down to see the land of Morthya. This part kinda confused me at first since they just go through a rift to suddenly find the rest of the world there, but now I realize it was just that the Cloud Sea dissipated by order of Klaus and because Morthya is right below the WT, that’s the first thing they saw before the rest of the landmass and the ocean came into view. I assume this land is also either something brought over from the old Earth or was created by Klaus for them to live on. To end it out, we get the party flying out to the new landmass while energy particles from the space station’s collapse rain down, and then credits roll. For the post-credits scene, we return to them flying to the new landmass when one of the particles falls onto Pneuma’s core crystal. I assume what happens here is that within those particles were parts of Pneuma’s data, and considering the Aegises contain data from all life, she was able to hook herself back to the crystal and revive Pyra and Mythra by implanting their own data, though they’re probably just like any other Blade now. Without the Conduit, I think Pneuma and Logos are most likely gone forever. Anyway, going back to the ending, Pyra and Mythra return to us for a really touching scene with Poppi coming to hug them and Nia and the party encouraging Rex to greet them. I especially love that final moment when the lyrics end and we get that small motif from the main theme as one of the girls say something to Rex and he walks over to them, followed by the hard cut to the chapter title card. That said, I do have some more thoughts about this ending, but I’ll save that for later. Besides that, I loved the ending song. It definitely joins Xenogears' (still top though) and XBC’s for being great ending songs IMO. As a little ending note, that brand new Monolith Soft logo movie is real smooth. I love the background and how it represents the sci-fi focus of their games. Then we come back to the main title screen, where Rex, Pyra, and Mythra are now looking up at the World Tree from the new land, which was a very sweet touch. Overall, I really enjoyed this game in pretty much all of its aspects. Again, I’ll save my final thoughts on the game for a separate “review” thread where I go over the different aspects of the game, some music rankings, and more on how this game references and connects to the other Xeno titles (if I don’t separate that part by itself). I want to take the time to read Perfect Works and that Siren figurine box and maybe rewatch some XBC cutscenes. I have to admit, I wish I played Xenosaga previously so that I could’ve also touched on more possible references and reused themes from that series as well.

One day i was thinking how can a true story get part 2 and today i get the answer u

Inside the Rain Free movie reviews. I knew it has to do with Killing Eve when I heard the first song. I just got into this movie like an hour ago and just cannot shake it out of my are SO many layers, subtle clues that the filmmaker Bong Joon-ho managed to weave into the film that make Parasite feel such a masterpiece of filmmaking. (TBH, I just need to vent, if some are so obvious to you, don't mind me) here are a few details I noticed in the movies. Feel free to add more in if you notice something as well. The opening sequence is just a masterclass of world building lesson. Right from the get go, we see the shot of the "semi-basement" window and the starting "We're screwed. No more free Wi-Fi. " dialogue which sets the state the Kim family is living in right away: a lower class family, struggling to even have wifi connection (which they were leaching off from the 123456789-password /upstair/ neighbour - another nod to the height-hierarchy motif of the movie). These people are just miserably poor that they can't afford the essentials of the modern society like phone connections, trying to do the folding pizza boxes as their source of income (which is even below a fast food worker employment). [Heck, even the highest place in the house is literally the toilet seat! I have no idea who built or found this set, but they did their damn good job! ] Fumigation scene: notice how the Father insisted to let the window open so they can have "free extermination", while the Daughter wanted to shut it? Clearly a foreshadow. But this also is a subtle comparison of how similar the family is to the "stink bugs" around them: they live underground in poor living condition, seeing the outer world by looking up while others look down, living on little leftovers that some people like to throw away. And whenever the extermination comes, only the matures can ignore the condition and survive, while the youths suffer (and die). Also this conflict highlights the short-sightedness of the Father and Mother. They are the one in charge, but do not seem to have any foresights for their decisions, or any responsibilities even for their below-basic-income job/gig. Feeble characters who're fit right into the "why the poor stay poor" stereotype, or as some troll in the Internet puts it: "They're inferior losers who don't put in real effort and blame the rich instead since that's easier than working. etc" The "scholar's" rock: I love how the Kims' son keep mentioning how "meta' it is lol. To him, it is a magical device that blessed the family's fortune-turning around later. It's 'hope', 'fate', the "American dream", etc. to him, that he's lucky ever since he got that guess what? That rock is ultimately fake. /It floats during the flood later/, meaning it's certainly hollow inside with a fake exterior. Another metaphor for how the family later "fakes it to make it" to the upper-class Parks family. (And also probably another reason why the son survives the skull-bashing hits. But he probably doesn't know still. In his dream sequence, he can lay it down in the water, meaning he still believes in the "dream"/the rock/whatever it represents to him. ) The "parasite": it's easiest to say that the man living in the basement is The Parasite of the movie. But to me, every family is parasitic in this movie. If the Kims being gassed with bug sprays and having a whole "infestation" operation to establish themselves into the Parks' household, the old housekeeper and her husband's literally living in the shadow of the Parks, then what parasitic behaviour the upper-class Park family has demonstrated in return, other than being the stereotypical Crazy rich Asian affluent porn you may ask? It's the little actions here and there that matter. The "simple" Park mother may be too dumb to be fooled, manipulated and scammed the whole movie, but she knows how to skim the tutor's payment AND then has the audacity to say that she was going to pay the same rate as the old tutor, but "added a bit for Inflation". That upper-class, tech-renovating award-winning of a family literally stays being rich based on underpaying their newer employees. Not to mention, she/the Park family is obviously dependant to the help to feed themselves! Without the housekeeper, she can't even function normally. The subtle details about how the upper class operates and could be interpreted as criticisms to the upper class are also spot on:They didn't care about the degree or certification, as long as "you are referenced to by someone I know personally". They have no idea about arts, but act like snobs while appropriating another commodified culture. They don't even know that their child is "faking" being an eccentric, but hiring all the "art therapist/professional" help that they don't need. They're projecting all horrible things onto their "disgraced" employees, but then use it as sexual fantasy to get off later. Heck, they are so out of touch with reality that they don't even know why the lights were turned on or the fact that they have a whole nuclear basement with a whole person living in it! The director just did an amazing job portraying all the uglinesses of both classes in this movie. The Flood: To me, the flood is the true climax of the film. It's so simple, but truly a masterpiece that effectively demonstrates the deep inequality of the classes, especially under the effect of climate change. To the Parks, the storm rain only helps "clear the pollution away" (while thousands of home are flooded to the ceiling filling up with sewages and trashes), their son has to play camping in the garden instead (while people have to exhaustedly fight against the waters and lose all their belongings to the flood), they have to sleep on the couch in the wide, glass-window living room only because of their son's eccentric behaviour (while people have to seek refuge sleeping like boxed salmons in a gym). Oh, and the next day? Let's organise a garden birthday party instead! And inviting all their upper class friends who sing opera and play cello in the garden, you know, all casually (not to mention chopping woods just for fun! /s), while paying all their employees showing up for it instead! (Not to mention how much resources that state-of-the-art house-on-the-hill can consume and how much human resources it requires to maintain and operate. )Knowing the director from his previous work Snowpiercer, he is very environmentally aware about climate change and how it effects in an inequality I just love how casually and realistically he portrayed the situation in this film. How realistically a disaster to some can only be a mildly inconvenience to the upper class. And I personally had lived through that hellhole of a scenario right in this summer myself so I cannot help but profoundly relate, feeling my hope for humanity slipping again (Long story short, the whole region got burned down due to bush fires. People lost houses while fighting with the fires for MONTHS. I had to live through heavy orange smogs for weeks that's straight out of Blade Runner, while the PM was "missing" on a Hawaii holiday and blamed the people on having a "needless climate anxiety". )No wonder why Mr. Kim snapped so badly later. The Smell: this is what finally triggered Mr. Kim over the edge. He has personally been compared to behave like a "cockroach", living around "stink bugs" (and honestly, the whole hiding under the living room table and really slipping out on "4 feet" scene just really drives that demoralisation home for him). And he can't do nothing about it since it's so inherently attached to him! It's so inherently attached to the lower class that the concept of "the Smell" to the upper class is so devastatingly insulting! (And no, I'm not talking to the bad BO, poorly hygiene people who can simply take more than 1 shower per month. )Imagine being fired or denied an opportunity of work simply because "you smell like you-take-the-subway class of people". A "smell" that normal people don't recognise, only the "upper class" can notice it, even when they're "Smell" is the clearest embodiment of classism in this movie. Nothing Mr. Kim does in his job performance really "crossed the line", but only the "Smell" does. Which means no matter what Mr. Kim does or tries, he would never be good enough to socialise with this upper class. The bug-eats-bug world: Classism aside, this movie also highlights the harsh reality of the common (lower class) people fighting/scheming/harming each other to be in the good graces of the "Parks", instead of working together during the main conflict scene of the movie. A lot of us can look at it and say "why don't they just work together? This is just so stupid! ", but then you would miss the point. Because in reality, we can be just as selfish like any of them, especially when your your own livelihood is on the Kims didn't care that they framed an innocent man who lives in a hostel, or poisoned a woman out of her life-long job. This demonstrates the humanity-crushing truth of struggling to live a life under the poverty line. And the "moving upward" dream that the main character Kim Ki-woo has can only be made via machiavelli methods - or as in the more animalistic world, insects mainly lay traps and eat each other to survive. Some eat their own species. Especially cockroaches, they are infamous as they can eat each other and even their own eggs in order to ensure their own survival over each other. Edit: A lot of people have pointed out how the rock is "real" because it sinks in the water later in the dream sequence and the director says so in interviews. But I have to raise some points to support my "theory": A. The director Bong could just tried to be humble and say he really didn't plan the more metaphorical double layers into the rock. (And I could just have had my "the curtains are blue" moment). But he also said he didn't plan for the Parks son paintings to resemble the man in the basement, which is just humble bs to me at this point. This is the same man who directed a bus to drive through the screen while a "borderline-crossing" moment was happening to a character here. That crazy level of being detail-oriented just reeks through his script, his directing AND his editing. He sure didn't come up with the layers of the rock in his script, but sure af to keep that in his directing and editing. B. The dream sequence: let's make it 100% clear - the scene where Ki-woo "manages to become rich and buy the house, so the Father can just... walk up the stair" will never become a reality. So whatever happens in it, including the rock sinking, is just Ki-woo's fantasy. Ki-woo is a forgery+foul play convict who was also involved in an infamous murder+slaughter spree, while his father is a wanted murderer who's still on the "loose" and their victim(s) is affluent upper-class family in charge of a successful tech company in South Korea (not to mention their affluent injured guests! ) That sure as hell won't look good on any resume, not to mention his 4 times failing to pass the University Entrant Exam already. Ki-woo's life is now certainly doomed to unemployment in the professional white collar world. And if the end credit song written by the director gives any more clues about Ki-woo's life, then it confirms the fact that Ki-woo can only work in blue collar gigs: "sweep and scrub and wipe as my non-existent muscles give out". Good luck saving up enough money to buy that mansion! Probably in 564 years or sth. /s.

Tormund was also in the original Swedish version of this movie called Force Majeure. ☆Every Will Ferrell film turns into a Hardcore Challenge after 30 mins of seeing him on screen☆. AWESOME! Thank you. Ok, a few things before. I was reading this post here last night, and it inspired me (mostly because I had a bottle of wine beforehand and I'm fine with doubling down on a bad idea. ) Second but feel free to skip this part, it's just to provide context about where I'm coming from, I watch a lot of Netflix, I've seen YouTube Shorts, I've also finished reading two novels this year, as well as two manga series. My day job is a writer (albeit journalism based}, I just finished a Master's in Creative Writing, plus my Grandma's a librarian and grandfather a writer/English professor. I have read multiple fantasy novels, multiple thriller novels, more Danielle Steele novels than I'd care to admit, more romance novels than I will acknowledge, most of Poirot, etc. In short, multi-genre reader. I've read all of the shounen manga canon. I've read about 50% of Marvel and DC's comics in the 2010s. In short, I've had wayy too much time spent consuming fiction in different mediums in my 23 years of existence. This leads to my main point. It's ok to get inspired from other media as long as you don't forget the golden rule - render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar's. Ceasar in this case is your medium, and what you're rendering is your structure. A comic book/manga/manhwa/webtoon writer has panelling, art, colours and all of that to play with. A movie/cartoon/anime has movement, sound, facial expressions. A novel has only words, but that's underselling it. With words, you can engage all the five senses. A show can engage your eyes and your ears, but a book can tell you how an Enid Blyton picnic tastes, or how Spider Shepherd's back feels after all his years of being with Mi6. That is to say, Ceasar is demanding all his five senses be engaged. Or even When someone says you can't write fight scenes or magical scenes in a novel like an anime or superhero movie, they mean you're using the wrong toolset. you're writing a scene like you're reading a comic book or watching a movie and describing what's going on, you're not using your writer's toolset, you're creating a descriptive essay. Non-fiction is where people go to read essays, not the fiction aisle. Let's look at two mainstream anime fight scenes to illustrate (chosen because anime has the most direct adaptations and its easier to search YouTube and copy URLs than search up scenes and then copy and paste from Kindle Cloud reader): Naruto This fight scene features Kakashi facing off against two opponents with well-animated hand to hand exchange. It's brilliant, and it works -- for the medium. This is not in the manga, but the anime writers added that in because they felt it would work well for that medium of animation where the fluidity of the motion can be appreciated. What would work for a novel? You could focus on the blow by blow description, trying to paint a picture for us. Or you could focus on Kakashi. What's he showing in that scene? Desperation? Your tools are sentences. Short, snappy. The reader has to be breathlessly reading along, not slowed down by short descriptions. Focusing on the antagonists? What are they feeling? Glee? Boredom? Get inside their heads, and let's dive into madness together. Or look at this explosive One Punch Man scene: It looks amazing if you're watching it, but how would you show it? If you're describing it as you see it, you're not rendering unto Ceasar, you're giving Ceasar 1/5th of his tithes because you're probably only focusing on the images and Ceasar doesn't care because he can watch this on YouTube. You could focus on the heroes increasing desperation through the eyes of one character on the side, or focus on Garou's struggle from his perspective. I can see his wounds in the animation, if you're writing, I want to feel them. I want to taste the blood, I want to feel my arms crack, I want my vision to go hazy. You could even skip the fight and write something like: The heroes unleashed relentless attack after relentless attack, the Hero Hunter didn't wilt. Calmly slipping between their defences, he took them down one by one, until he was left alone in the rain. Bloody, beaten, but victorious. Broken arrows lay splintered among spent bullets among shattered heroes, but Garou remained standing. If you don't think that the blow by blow description of something that is also consumed in visual media can sell, just remember that erotica writers rake in the $$$/£££ despite the existence of, well, the other stuff. Recall also that members of SEAL Team whatever and Mi6 and Mossad killing a million people has sent their writers laughing all the way to the bank in the thriller/military fiction side of things (which is kinda underrepresented on Reddit to think about it. ) I'm no-one special, I'm still learning like everyone on this subreddit. But I believe writing is the best medium. People were telling stories of superheroes and gods back before TV was even a glint in someone's eye. They didn't have two heads, they just used the tools they had available to them. What I'm saying is be inspired from whatever media you like. Heck, if a poem inspires a novel, go for it. Just remember that once you start writing a novel, you're writing a novel and use the appropriate tools.

Watch Full Length Waiting for ana maria. Hello, all! McEric here with coverage for a new film about World War II released today in select theaters, On Demand, and streaming, called WAITING FOR ANYA, based on the acclaimed novel by Michael Morpurgo (WAR HORSE), written/directed by Ben Cookson (ALMOST MARRIED), and starring Noah Schnapp ("Stranger Things"), Jean Reno (LEON), Angelica Huston (WITCHES), Frederick Schmidt (MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT), and Thomas Kretschmann (AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON). Check out the trailer: There has been no shortage of films made about World War II, with varying degrees of cinematic worth. While not every film can be SCHINDLER'S LIST, the strength of WAITING FOR ANYA is in its illuminating portrayal of a forgotten corner of the war: the German occupation of France. The film opens in 1943 on Jo (Shnapp), a young illiterate shepherd tending to his family's flock of sheep in the shadow of the Pyrenees mountains, dozing off on a peaceful sunny day. He is awoken by his dog warning of a bear nearby, and he rushes back to his village to alert the men there. They grab their guns and head off to deal with the bear, making short work of the great beast and dragging its carcass back to town where all celebrate. It's a metaphor of what is to come. When Jo goes back to learn what fate befell his dog, he comes across a strange man, Benjamin (Schmidt) in the woods, who is holding a bear cub. He explains that he saw the whole exchange, and that the bear was simply protecting its cub from the boy and dog. He says he will take the cub with him and raise it until it is strong enough to survive on its own. Jo is fascinated by Benjamin and the kindness being shown to the cub that he clumsily orphaned, so he follows him back to his farm, looking to bring some milk to the cub. What he finds instead is a young Jewish girl. From there the story widens to reveal Resistance fighters among the townspeople helping to ferry Jewish refugees across the mountain ridge into Spain to find freedom from oppression and persecution. Jo becomes an ally, which is a relatively harmless choice until the Nazi occupation makes its way to his village's front door. Part coming-of-age story, part perils of war, and overflowing with heart, WAITING FOR ANYA is a quiet meditation on the good and evil that men can do. Showing how war can wound indiscriminately, the film benefits from amazing performances of complex characters by Schmidt, Kretschmann, and Huston. I had the opportunity to chat with writer/director Ben Cookson about the film, his adoration of the source material, and his experiences working with an excellent cast. Eric McClanahan – Good morning, Ben. Ben Cookson – Hi, Eric, how’re you doing? EM – I’m well, thank you. Are you in California or England? BC – I’m in London at the moment. EM – Okay, so it’s… well ahead, if I have my times correct, you’re… BC – Yeah, it’s nearly 6 o’clock on a Friday afternoon. EM – Okay. It’s just before noon here so I’m kind of still getting started. [Ben laughs] So I want to talk about WAITING FOR ANYA. I got to view the film and really enjoyed it. Obviously, we as humans in this modern age are still so fascinated by World War II. It was such a tumultuous time, so eye-opening in terms of human nature and good vs evil and the complexities of the human condition that I know so many films have been made from it, so many books have been written about it. So tell me how, or I guess why, you came to the adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s novel to make this film. BC – For me, basically, I’ve lived in France. I lived there for maybe five years; four years in Paris and one in Nice, and the experience of living in a country that was occupied, it’s very different than the UK. There are pictures in Paris of the Nazis among them; we didn’t have that in London, it’s a completely different national collective memory. Anyone who’s lived through the war, they all have stories there. In the UK you were either evacuated or sent off to fight in some far-off land, but those in France had it brought to their homes. It’s a fascinating part of history and it brings out the true character of some people, so it’s always going to be mined for these rich moments that shed light on the human condition. And particularly this one, because WAITING FOR ANYA is set in this forgotten pocket of France, down in the valley beneath the Pyrenees and it’s a story that, when I read it, felt sort of like war through a child’s eyes, and it’s this coming-of-age story. It just drew me in, basically. EM – Right. I did think it was amazing, in the opening, where it talked about the difference between Northern and Southern France and how in the South they didn’t feel the occupation immediately and lived relatively blissfully until it did arrive on their doorstep and it’s a fascinating conundrum. BC – Yeah, I’m glad you said that. We really wanted to get that juxtaposition of what life was like, when the country was divided in two. When they had the zone libre in the South and the occupied zone in the North, yeah, the country couldn’t have been more different. We wanted to really get people’s attention that this horror was in the post for the people of the south. EM – I really enjoyed how the film blurred the lines between protagonist and antagonist, as when the Germans first arrived, there was obviously trepidation, though soon they settled in and became part of the town; but as the war progressed, that perception changed. At one point he [Jo] actually says in the VO that the villagers would “see them only by their uniforms”. How difficult was it balancing that tone of “friendly visitor” vs “occupational force”? BC – Well it comes from the book and the historical accuracy. We worked with a French production designer and a French costume designer who both, during prep, spent time in the villages interviewing elderly shepherds into their nineties who’d lived through the occupation, and what they said was that the soldiers who were sent to patrol the border, they weren’t like front-line fighting troops or SS Nazi troops; they were Nazi soldiers, yes, but many of them had seen action in the first World War and they were essentially Austrian border forces and Alpine border guys who were sent there due to their mountaineering experience and skills, but they were war-weary. In the book, the corporal is this man who is a million miles from home, or at least he should be, away from his family and his daughters that he loves very much, and he questions everything. Again, he was a character who saw action in the first World War and he becomes a pacifist who wants peace. So yeah, there are these characters whose roles are complex. Jo’s father, when he returns, he’s this frightening, aggressive, drunken, violent man in the home because he’s a victim of war; he’s been interned in the labor camp. So, yeah, a lot of that is down to Michael’s skill as a novelist and his interest in showing the human condition and showing that war isn’t so black-and-white; it claims victims on all sides. EM – I definitely picked up on that in the Corporal’s story.  Thomas Kretschmann was so brilliant in the role, playing him as sympathetic, a man essentially just doing his job. I also liked the correlations drawn between his character and the bear. At the start of the film, many of the villagers view the bear as an enemy, but some are able to justify its actions based on its individual situation. And when the Corporal shares his love of honey with Jo it’s a clear metaphor drawn between he and the bear. It seems something you clearly picked up on in the book and brought to the movie. So tell me about bookending the film with the bear. BC – Without wanting to give away too many spoilers, war is chaos and complex, and sometimes acts of kindness can lead to disaster. It also plays upon the bombing that takes place by the Allied forces on Germany to disrupt their activity there. It has a negative consequence, yes on the Nazis because that’s intentional, but also on the village as their food supplies are then running low. So in these times of chaos, you’re up against the elements, your enemies, the soldiers, but also life itself would sometimes throw you a curveball. It can have disastrous consequences. EM – Tell me about assembling this cast. Jean Reno, Angelica Huston, Noah Schnapp. Tell me about bringing this team together and what each person brought to the production. BC – When we approached the casting process, we intentionally wanted to make a family movie. We wanted to get the top talents, legends really, that would draw in the various demographics. Noah is a fantastic, exciting young talent with a hug fan base that we hoped would draw in an audience that may not be particularly familiar with World War II and things that took place in Europe at that time. At the same time with Angelica and Jean being legends since I was a kid, they would bring in the parents and grandparents; they’re loved in cinema. That was one approach: we wanted to try to make a film that a family would want to see, together. It’s not a children’s movie. The book is aimed at young adults and the film is accessible to young adults but by the same token it does not shy away from some of the more complex and adult issues that World War II inevitably brings. But also from my perspective, because we’re doing an English-language film set in France, it was important for me to populate the cast with French and German characters wherever appropriate, which is why Jean is playing Compere, why Thomas Kretschmann is playing the Corporal; we have Elsa Zylberstein, and Angelica is a huge Francophile who speaks French. For Noah, the project resonated with him because he’s Jewish and his family have a huge connection to this story. With the source material so prestigious, being a Michael Morpurgo novel, we were able to bring together such a fantastic ensemble. EM – I agree, also I was very impressed by Frederick Schmidt as Benjamin, Declan Cole as Hubert; just great performances all throughout the film. I’m excited to see what waves this film will generate. So what are you working on next? BC – At the minute I’m working on another feature which is sort of a historically inspired comedy. I’m also working on a six-part limited series that’s a true-crime biopic about one of the UK’s most prolific bomb robbers. Bit of range between those two. EM – Yeah, a little all over the place. I also noticed that your prior film, ALMOST MARRIED, is a comedic sex romp, then you go from that to WAITING FOR ANYA. Tell me about switching those gears. BC – I can see that they’re like chalk and cheese, those two movies. And in the interim I was working on a true crime project that I was working on for a couple of years and then in a very short space of time it collapsed kind of overnight and we had studio space booked and I was working with an actor who was a hero of mine since I was a little kid, so… You know, I watch movies and appreciate movies from every genre so as a director I want to work in every genre. I don’t want to limit or pigeonhole myself to one specific area. You know, I think the skills of making a movie, the process, are transferrable, so it makes sense to me to have that wide range and if I find a story that resonates with me, whether it’s a comedy or a true crime or a biopic then I’m going to make it. If I want to watch it, I want to make it. EM – So finally what are your hopes and expectations for WAITING FOR ANYA? What would you like audiences to take away from it and where would you like to see it go in its life post-theatrical release? BC – I just hope it plays well to a wide audience. I hope that the younger audiences who aren’t particularly familiar with World War II movies and the horrors of what went on in Europe and the Holocaust, that they’re able to see this and take something from it. That it makes them kind of think. Because sadly, although it’s a period piece, a lot of the things in the movie are quite relevant today. EM – Very true. One more quick question, did you approach the Corporal as a possible, sort of haunted future-version of Jo? BC – I would have to say no. But what I would say is that when I saw the Corporal, I did see a man who would never be making it back to his homeland. EM – Well thank you so much for talking to me today, Ben, and best of luck on the film. BC – Thanks a lot. Really nice talking to you. EM – Alright, take care. BC – Yeah, you too, man. Bye bye. WAITING FOR ANYA premieres in select theaters, on demand, and digital today. Until next time, I'll see you at the movies! -McEric, aka Eric McClanahan-.

[ Rating: Minor Rock Fist Up] A coming of age story about a boy named Jo who shelters Jews while living under Nazi occupation, one can’t help but to feel bad for director Ben Cookson and his new picture, Waiting for Anya. Cookson couldn’t have known that his movie would be released only a few days before a film about a boy named Jojo, who shelters a Jew while living under Nazi occupation, would compete for a handful of Oscars, yet sometimes that’s just how things shake out. The similarities between the two films are mostly surface level, however, and create enough distance between the plots and characters to make for wholly distinct stories that stand well enough on their own. Waiting for Anya opens with onscreen text setting the story in 1942 France, where a man and his young daughter, both with Stars of David stitched onto their coats, are being directed towards a waiting train. The man, Benjamin ( Frederick Schmidt), makes a daring move to escape deportation, but must hand his young daughter off to a stranger, one he hopes will assist the girl and get her to the south where he intends to meet her. The film then fades out and back into the small village of Lescun, where a 14-year old boy named Jo ( Noah Schnapp) is tending to his family’s sheep herd while narration from an older man sets this up as his (Jo’s) story, told decades later. Jo and his flock are startled by the appearance of a bear, which leads the young shepherd to Benjamin, who has been hiding in the woods outside of town. It turns out Benjamin’s mother-in-law, the local widow Horcada ( Anjelica Huston), has been sheltering Jewish children and guiding them across the Pyrennes Mountains to safety in Spain. The pair are still waiting on the arrival of Benjamin’s daughter, Anya, yet there’s plenty of work to be done with the other kids in the meantime. Although promised to little more than silence at first, the arrival of a German garrison in Lescun motivates Jo to do more, and he enlists in the community’s resistance network to aid in the protection of the Jewish children. As the film progresses, Jo is confronted with a number of difficult decisions and shades of morality that challenge his understanding of the world around him, and rush the young man towards an adulthood that seemed far off at the beginning of the picture. The script for Waiting for Anya is an adaptation of the book of the same name by Michael Morpurgo, who also authored War Horse (adapted into a 2011 film). Both movies share a restrained tone that frames the action for a younger audience, keeping the horrors of war at arm’s length for the most part. Although the phrase “concentration camp” is indeed mentioned in Waiting for Anya, the threat that the children hiding in Lescun face is nebulous in nature and remains mostly unseen. The Nazis that arrive in town are vaguely menacing and serve a purpose for the conflict of the narrative, yet the film never concerns itself with establishing a broader scope for their cruelty. On the one hand, this seems somewhat appropriate, for southwestern France in 1942-1944 was far enough away from Normandy and the Falaise Pocket that a sleepy village like Lescun could have been ignorant of the horrors taking place in Russia and Poland. Yet the film offers a number of characters like Benjamin who know enough to communicate just how bad things are, and while Waiting for Anya does touch upon the dangers the Germans represent, it remains largely in the background. This sanitized approach to the period is also reflected in the costuming and set design, which eschews period and place-specific authenticity for a clean and sharp visual aesthetic. Everyone’s clothes look freshly washed, pressed, and smartly assembled despite the main characters living in a farming community, yet even this seems to be a deliberate choice. There are several sweeping vista shots that interrupt the narrative to drink in the rolling green hills, majestic mountain ranges, and crystal-clear streams littering the region, setting this tale up as something of a rose-tinted memory as told by the film’s narrator. So, in a thematic sense, these visual and tonal decisions are appropriate and consistent with the kind of story Cookson is trying to tell. Sure, comparisons to Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit may be inescapable, yet the pictures operate on different frequencies and are clearly positioned in separate genres (not to mention adapted from books written decades apart). And while the main characters might share the same name, deal with similar dilemmas, and even have sympathetic Nazi friends ( Thomas Kretschmann essentially reprises his role in The Pianist, here), Waiting for Anya is hardly a knock-off. Schnapp does a decent job in the lead and bears the emotional weight of the character well, and he’s aided in no small part by Huston and Jean Reno, the latter of whom plays Jo’s grandfather. The story doesn’t take a lot of risks, yet the pacing of the effort is tight and keeps things moving along at a good clip throughout the 110-minute runtime. A World War II Holocaust-adjacent film that’s appropriate for the whole family, Waiting for Anya might not carry the emotional or intellectual weight of its cinematic cousin Jojo Rabbit, yet it succeeds on its own merits by keeping the story contained to a handful of sturdy characters that are well positioned, acted, and explored. “Obvious Child” is the debut novel of Warren Cantrell, a film and music critic based out of Seattle, Washington. Watch full length waiting for anya 1. | Nell Minow February 7, 2020 "Waiting for Anya" begins with a helpful explanation of what was going on in 1942, the first indicator that the target audience may be those who have not yet learned some basic history about WWII. It is not the last. The film is based on a popular YA book by Michael Morpurgo, author of  The War Horse, and it is inspired by French villagers who rescued Jewish children from the Nazis by smuggling them over the mountains into Spain. Despite the obvious sincerity of the filmmakers, the best efforts of Jean Reno and Anjelica Huston, and some lovely scenery, it remains overly didactic, talking down to even the middle school audience it is aimed at. Advertisement An old man ( Jean-François Balmer) serves as off-screen narrator, describing his life as a young shepherd in occupied France. In 1942 the Nazis had not yet reached the southern part of the country, bordering on Spain, so much of life continued as usual. But the war had already touched the village. A boy named Jo ("Stranger Things'" Noah Schnapp) has a lot of new responsibilities because his father left to fight for France and is now in a German POW camp. Jo's grandfather (Reno) has warned him to stay awake while watching the sheep, but -- METAPHOR ALERT-- Jo dozes off, only to be awakened by a bear approaching the flock.   Jo runs to tell the village, and a group of men go after the bear and kill it, toasting Jo for sounding the alarm. But Jo's grandfather suggests that he should not have left the sheep. And, in the film's best scene, the incident is reframed the next day when Jo goes into the woods looking for his sheepdog and sees a stranger who tells him that the bear was a mother trying to protect her now-orphaned cub. Now, he says, either he or Jo will have to take responsibility for the cub. The stranger takes the cub with him without telling Jo his name. The man, Jo will eventually discover, is Benjamin ( Frederick Schmidt) a Jew hiding out with his mother-in-law (Huston), a grumpy widow who lives on a remote farm. He is waiting there in hopes that his daughter Anya will find him there. He has not seen her since he desperately thrust her into a bus as he was escaping a Nazi transport to a concentration camp. While he waits, he is helping other Jewish children escape over the mountain. Jo promises to help, too. And then, the Nazis arrive and take over the town, searching everywhere for anyone who may be hiding anything. One German officer ( Thomas Kretschmann) is less harsh, especially after his own daughter is killed in Berlin by an Allied bombing raid. He tries to be kind to Jo and his developmentally disabled friend Hubert (Declan Cole), taking them into the mountains to look for eagles, to make the war seem far away. But tensions are high and it is imperative to get the remaining children out of harm's way before they are discovered. As the era of the Holocaust moves beyond the time of living memory, the struggle to understand and communicate what happened becomes even more difficult. That is even more complicated when it comes to explaining the history to young people in a manner that is accessible enough for them to understand and honest enough to be meaningful. A much better way to begin to communicate one of the most unthinkable horrors of the 20th century and remind us that civilized people can be responsible for atrocities is to show them films like "Paperclips, " "The Number on Great-Grandpa's Arm, " or "The Diary of Anne Frank. "  Those already familiar with the basics of history may find it adds nothing new to see this film’s opening moments with terrified Jews wearing yellow stars herded into trains, a baby crying, a woman screaming, and a sad violin on the soundtrack. For middle schoolers, who may never have been exposed to these images, the film may be educational about such horrors. But “Waiting for Anya” remains thin, sugary, and over-simplified. Jo Lalande is a young shepherd who is enjoying his childhood; but when his father goes to fight in the war, Jo has to become the man of the house. He follows the man to his home and learns his secret - he is a Jew named Benjamin who is waiting for his daughter Anya to come find him as they were split from each other, and he is responsible for smuggling Jewish children to safety across the border into Spain, with the help of his mother-in-law, the Widow Horcada. Movies | ‘Waiting for Anya’ Review: Saving Jews as a Rite of Passage A boy in Occupied France, with eyes wide open, must choose what to say about what he sees. Credit... Vertical Entertainment Waiting for Anya Directed by Ben Cookson Drama, War 1h 49m Debates persist about the appropriate ways to depict World War II onscreen, but “stodgily familiar, ” which describes “Waiting for Anya, ” is probably not the most historically sensitive mode. This child’s-eye view of Occupied France is set in a village in the Pyrenees, where, at the outset, Jo (Noah Schnapp), a shepherd’s son, spots a bear and alerts adults. The bear, a mother, is killed (the better to be used as a metaphor). Soon after, Jo discovers that at a nearby farm, a woman (Anjelica Huston) is hiding a Jewish man (Frederick Schmidt) and a growing number of children. His ability to keep that secret, even while he goes eagle-watching with a Nazi corporal (Thomas Kretschmann), is a test of mettle. “Waiting for Anya” is not so sentimental that it imagines every character can escape death. But it has little use for complexity. If there are Nazi collaborators among the French here, for instance, they don’t have notable speaking parts. And making the most prominent German officer sympathetic to saving Jewish children avoids reckoning with the depths of the Third Reich’s evils. Based on a novel by Michael Morpugo (author of “War Horse”), this film suffers from other deficits of verisimilitude. Characters speak English with such strong accents it’s odd that the director, Ben Cookson, didn’t opt for French and German. And as harrowing as Jo’s ordeal may be, the movie doesn’t fail to provide the obligatory uplift. Waiting for Anya Not rated. Running time: 1 hour 49 minutes.

Watch Full Length Waiting for analyses. D ir: Ben Cookson; Starring: Noah Schnapp, Anjelica Huston, Jean Reno, Sadie Frost, Thomas Kretschmann, Frederick Schmidt, Tómas Lemarquis. 12A cert, 109 mins. One of these days, just for variety’s sake, wouldn’t you love to see a film set in England with a French-speaking cast who affect dubious Anglo accents throughout? It would certainly make a nice change from the ‘Allo ‘Allo! converse – an arrangement whose credibility was torched almost 40 years ago by René Artois and chums, yet still gets wheeled out at regular intervals. The latest occasion is Waiting for Anya, an adaptation of a Second World War novel by Michael Morpurgo in which Jewish children are smuggled over the Spanish border from a remote French mountain village under the noses of the local Nazi garrison. Director Ben Cookson (Almost Married) has cast some actors who can actually speak French – his young lead Noah Schnapp, from Stranger Things, is of Québécois heritage, and there’s a prominent supporting role for Jean Reno – but since the script is in English, it’s not clear what difference it makes. Anjelica Huston, another fluent Francophone, plays the reclusive widow Horcada, whose barn on the village’s outskirts serves as a temporary home for the young refugees. Yet even Huston’s stately screen presence can’t sap the inherent hilarity/inanity from a line like “Ah’d bettair go see to ze peegs”. M orpurgo’s novels are aimed at younger readers, and take an educative tack that can be hard to translate to the screen without the results feeling cloyingly earnest. In his adaptation of War Horse, Steven Spielberg managed to pull it off by borrowing liberally from John Ford and Robert Bresson – because of the way the film carried itself cinematically, the sincerity and poignancy feel entirely natural under the circumstances. But Waiting for Anya doesn’t appear to have any cinematic precursors at all: the lighting and camerawork are flat, the acting largely perfunctory, the dialogue entirely leaden, the score unresponsive, the poor Pyrénées as dreary as they’ve ever looked. It doesn’t help that Schnapp’s character, a 13-year-old shepherd called Jo, is a complete drip, and the intermittent voiceover in which his now-elderly self rumblingly looks back on the events of the film – “the story of how I became a man, ” apparently – brings no additional texture or perspective. Incredibly, this is the second film to be released in as many months in which the Shoah serves as the backdrop for a gentile boy’s coming of age. T he first was the now Oscar-coronated Jojo Rabbit: a film that responded to the Holocaust with simpering bromides, and suggested, via a tone-deaf Rilke quotation, that the best way of weathering fascism is to simply “let everything happen to you… no feeling is final”. (Fine advice for the Jews and others who found themselves rounded up into goods wagons at gunpoint and taken to extermination camps. ) N ext to that, Waiting for Anya can’t fail to look good by comparison, though its engagement with the period isn’t exactly deep, and its token "good Nazi" – a friendly corporal played by Thomas Kretschmann – is the living embodiment of a “ very fine people on both sides ” ethical fudge. It’s the kind of film that’s good news for anyone with a book report due on the source, but can’t be recommended under any other circumstances. Waiting for Any is released on February 21.
